  1. Many years ago there was (I think Fleet) a "cuddle box" Tx that had a stick that moved in the normal left/right up/down axis and had a rotary pot on the stick itself . Not sure how the fourth channel worked if fitted. it was held in the crook of one arm - hence the "cuddle" bit and operated by the other hand. Sounds the sort of thing for what you describe if the person could cuddle the Tx. Not seen one for years but maybe someone still makes one.   John
  2. The picture is of the genuine servo (closed grommet holes). Would ebay have even known who/what Futaba are until you told them. Probably lost in "administration".   John
  3. As Djay says the TT Trainer 2 I've had for years has no "building". The wings bolt together, fin bolts on through the tailplane into the fuselage. Only work to do is clamp the motor in and fit the radio gear. Undercarriage is strong and retained by twist lock screws. Been flying my two for many years now.(original bought as a refresher model after a long layoff). There is now a TT Trainer 3 available. Highly reccomemded.   John
  4. I think some of the old Radio Modeller plans are also in the xlist   John
  5. Missed that bit but saw could order more if the wrong type was sent. must wake up.   john
  6. Hi.   no-one has mentioned it but none of the kits/artf I've done have come with glue so be prepared to buy some in.   John
  7. Hi Jim.   I'm not familiar with TT 4st's but on my Saito there is a sliding plate in the air intake of the carby to act as a choke.I find I don't need it to start using an electric starter. Some makers have remove these but not amended the instructions. The low running jet is usually a small screw inside the throttle arm(on the opposite side to themain needle valve) with only a slot showing but it varies with the carby/make. This shouldn't need adjusting until the motor is nearly run in. Hope this helps and I'm sure thre will be someone with more knowhow than me along soon.   John
  8. Just catching up with posts after being away. John Gibbs on the 19th says "DB not to his taste and hasn't been to shows since Plumpton stopped", I thought DB organised that show or at least the last few years so he cant be too bad, but I agree he is someone tou love or loathe.   John
  9. I left a review last September in the "reviews" section at the top of this page. I rated it at 100% and so did Tom Page in January this year. Review is still there under "Almost Ready to Fly/electric and shockie models". click on "all lists" and the scroll down to Nine Eagles Sky Runner.   The model handles a stiff breeze well. The Tx has dual rates and can be set to mode 1 or 2 very easily just read the instructions. Well worth the £65.00 I paid for it at the time.   The only reservations Tom and I had were regarding the tight fitting battery/battery compartment.   John
  10. Reading Graham's September editorial about the Pontins modellers holidays at Brean Sands in Somerset 25 years ago, many fliers may not know but it is still going strong although not now organised by Pontins. Many years ago it move a mile up the road to Holiday Resort Unity caravan park. It has been flying only for years but over the last few years more facilities have been added for boats, cars and railway modellers. Flying is from the flat beach where the tide goes out a looong way (a council recognised flying site), Various local hills for the glider men and over the years a variety of farmers fields. This year it is suppose to be on an old part of the redesigned golf course so the "runway" could be the best we've had for the field users.   Most years the weather has been good but Somerset seems to be plagued with strong breezes which make flying interesting.   Looking forward to September 2nd for this years bash.   Only drawback for the last two years is it runs from friday to friday which is out of the hands of the organisers and laid down by the camp site owners but obviously doesn't suit every ones holiday times.   Highly reccomended for a relaxed week of modelling with friends made over the years with faces coming back time after time.   John
  11. I agree with Colin and Hellcat, expensive but worth the money. first saw one "in the flesh" at Wings and Weald this year. Couldn't order it then as it was on a stand who was only acting as a demo but it arrived very quickly. After 44 years on my knees at work (thank you the gas industry) it is getting almost impossible to kneel down and get up safely near rotating props. I still have to bend if I drop anything which is quite often. Ho Hum.     John Edited By John Tee on 26/07/2011 14:28:34 Edited By John Tee on 26/07/2011 14:29:56
  12. I'm probably splitting hairs but if a model is an expensive builders kit it must have a plan or surely it's an ARTF model.   You can't build without a plan only assemble.   Just my take on it.   John
  13. Used Fleet until I had a break from modelling . Came back with Futaba 13 years ago. Acquired a Specrtrum DX5 with a model then bought a DX6 last year as an upgrade but not used it yet. Definitely a Futaba man.
  14. Had a good afternoons flying. weather alternating between sunny and hot and cloudy and comfortable. Wind from zero to lifting the windsock almost level and swinging from our main east/west runway to north/south. Came home with all models intact though.   Ashamed to say that today was the first time flying this year despite fhe good weatyher so far (in the south). Just a few adjustments to make before our club BBQ flying day.   John
  15. Not had a webbit but looking at the fly in photo's it shouldn't need too much of a launch just a firm push forward . It wont need a javelin style launch.   Have fun with it   John
  16. 21/2 hrs later v.quiet. See I've killed another one..   John
  17. If Tim is still watching this thread, what you have drawn is true for jst-xh balance plugs.   Just checked my Flightpower 4s plug and I have a negative on pin 1 positives on pins 2 -5 and a positive on pin 6 which is connected at the cell with the wire from pin 5 and the main power positive wire. this is what confused me as checking my 3s Flightpower I don't have that extra wire.   I tried to draw it out to paste but it didn't work, i hope this makes some sort of sense.   John
  18. I'm a lurker. I read lots of the threads and reply/ask questions occasionally but I now got a complex as when I join the thread seems to die or go very quiet.   John
  19. Hi Tim. Thanks for that. It's clearer now than looking at all the wire on the pack.   John
  20. Hi I have the same problem, I've seperated the cells and resoldered but no-one seems to sell balancer plugs to replace the four cell with a three. Another quick query if I may, I'm newish to electric flying but not too bad on electrical things generally, but why do the packs have an extra red (live) wire to the number of cells when two are coupled together giving 4 lives and a neutral on a 3s pack plug.   John
  21. Hi Gary. it is better to cut on the "waste" side of the line and sand to finished shape/size. You can always take more off but difficult to put it back. Always cut with the grain where possible so that the knife will pull away from the line if it follows the grain so you don't damage the part. As to cutting parts out if you cut them all you can work on different sections at the same time but it's a personal choice. Hope I've read your question correctly.   john
  22. John   It was David's reply to Bob that promtped me to ask about the ignore as I was unaware it existed at the time   John
  23. Me again. I 'm confused as just been to latest posts and now all ok.   John
  24. something is not right here. After my query about "ignore" I went back to Latest posts and the last posting on here was by Richard Bond on page 85 - seven posts ago. Page 86 is shown as available but greyed out. I can get to 86 by clicking it and there are newer posts including your replies to me. Was alright up until tonight. Any suggestions please.   JohnEdited By John Tee on 16/06/2011 21:42:27
