  1. I am currently sheeting the floats of the Supermarine S6b I am building. This is time consuming rather than difficult, because there are 8 panels on each side of each float, so 32 panels in all!
  2. I apologise for offending several people on this forum, so early in the New Year, with my "theory" - which has now been debunked as "codswallop" - that the right hand controls the elevator and ailerons of a full-size plane with a single control column, like Mode 2, whilst the left-hand controls the throttle, also like Mode 2. I have not got the nerve to tell my American friends, who all told me this theory, that they have been talking codswallop. Anyway, in this post-truth world, their opinions can probably be ignored because they just "experts": expert pilots of both full-size and model planes! 3. Mode 2 is more like a full-size plane in that the right-hand TX stick mimics the control column. In the US, Mode 2 dominates probably because there is more interaction between full-size and model aviation - for example, a much higher proportion of RC flyers in the US also flies full-size planes.   Edited By Chris Bott - Moderator on 02/01/2017 16:38:13
  4. Bob, Excel has VB(A) behind it, and with practice and care it is possible to write good and very fast code in this VBA and then just use the Excel "front" (spreadsheets) for input and output. This is probably the cheapest and easiest way to get back into programming. John
  5. F3aUnlimited have 25 mm and 30 mm carbon fiber wing tubes and sleeves. Expensive but very good and light.
  6. Thanks for the great tip! I went to Poundland yesterday and bought some more CA and it seems to work just as well as the more expensive stuff. I like the small bottles too.
  7. I have no problem with a registration system, and have already registered my models in the USA. It is cheap and quick there. The AMA are trying to get the FAA to agree to a system whereby AMA membership provides automatic government registration.
  8. Nice issue. One thing I didn't understand was Peter Lowe's comment, in his review of the Hangar 9 Tiger Moth, about Hangar 9 fuel tanks. He said they only come with two fuel lines, which makes "it difficult ... to fill the tank while the feed is connected to the engine as there's no vent to let the air out as the fuel's pumped in". If this was really true the tanks would explode when you pumped fuel into them! As it is, one of the lines is always used as a vent, generally attached to the engines exhaust muffler, and this has free access to the outside air. To fill these two-line fuel tanks, one either pulls the fuel line off the engine and fills through that, or one uses a two-way fuel valve. So I think this is an unfair criticism of Hangar 9.
