DB Sport And Scale - Cirrus Moth
Peter Wood replied to Martyn Johnston's topic in Build Blogs and Kit Reviews
Well done,Ive been looking for a biplane for quite a while, and probably have got some one to help me build it, but would want to go electric. Ive noticed on the dB s&S site that the ppo 3548 is the recommend electric motor. I wondered what battery it would need and what size prop. I have started a flair fokker dvii, but having quite a few problems with it. Peter -
Steve I also like biplanes they look good, But I want it simple to fly, for electric but sut about the size that a 46 glow would power. I can;t see an artf, so would consider a good kit. Any ideas Pete

Posted by Glenn Philbrick on 18/10/2011 21:06:13: Hi Keith. Had a look at your web site as I am building a Priory Lanc. I am also going to modify mine for brushless and electric retracts so I have had to modify the engine nacelles that come with the kit. I have bought the Vac pack that goes with the Tony Nighuis Lanc as this has moulding for the nacelle fronts and spinners, So I have redesigned them to take retracts, esc and motors. I will also use BRC motors but was thinking of using the 2217-8T 1100kv as I already have a pair in a Mossie that I built. I intend to run 8 x 6 three blade props on 2 x 3s 2700 lipos. I was thinking of wiring the motors as two pairs and using a separate lipo for the RX and retracts. What sort of weight did your Lanc end up, mine will be a bit heavier with the retracts but I was going to Poly c it rather than brown paper. Is brown paper heavy? Any further tips would be appreciated, Glenn Am interested how you fitted retracts and what ones you used Pete

Fantastic I just wonder how you carved the front of the narcelle, or is there a moulding that I can buy, Peter
-
Love the colour scheme as well, can I see the underside and what are the names of the colours you have used. Pete
-
I agree, I am just waiting for the props too come. I have cut off the frontof the existing narcelleand going to mount on 1/4 inch liteply, but not sure yet about the cowl I am thinking of buying a 1/72 plastic kit. I think there might be room in the inboard nacelles for an undercarriage. I have a pair of light electric retracts from hobby king but not sure how to fit them

Posted by Tim Mackey on 07/09/2011 18:09:47: Uuuh, I could do with a bit more info really - after all this is a 3yr old thread Look at Keith-howlette web site for brushless installation. His address is a .co.uk one. He put new install last night. Pete

Posted by Tim Mackey on 10/02/2008 19:20:00: The 20A version is only £10, and will give a better safety margin IMO. battery depends on your motors - which ones are they ? Assuming current draw of around 10A -12A a piece, thats up to 48A in total so you need a pack capable of supplying say 40A (in the air ). A 3300 m/a hr pack @ say 12C, will give 5 minutes WOT -so allowing for moderate throttle use, expect a good 6 - 8 minutes duration. Of course all this depends on final AUW and the motors used. What prop please Peter

I still prefer to buy from a shop as one get a chance to look at one before buying. I have bought a couple of models unseen, and they are not ideal. I have bought the lanc from Priory models, and saw it at the nats, not quite artf but not complete kit build. Peter
-
Did you buy one, and make it. I have just bought one an am interested, in a completed one. Pete

Peter Wood replied to Tom T's topic in Shows, Club Events and Competitions
Just returned. A good day. I really went on a shopping trip, bought a few tools, tried to but an artf lanc, they couldn;t process credit cards, so I tried to purchase an amigo 4 from motors rotors. But they could not process my card. I tried on 3 separate occassions and apparently the pod went down at lunch time. So as couldn;t buy anything. I went home, Is modelling going to pack up. My local model shop is having to close, people won;t accept cheques, and you can't use debit cards at shows !!!!!!! -

Air Brushing
Peter Wood replied to thomas salisbury's topic in Building from Traditional Kits and Plans
Ive had a few airbrushes both cheap and a double action one but cannot get them to spray. I am looking for a course. Ive seen one in gloucester but they need 2 people to make it worthwhile running it. I looked at the site mentioned but no mention of a beginners course can anyone help. Pete -
I have a new charger and to do a balance charge I need to plug in the balance plug and the deans conector. If the cells are unbanced how does the charger stop charging the cell that is too high aq voltage. My old charger used to charge through a balance lead. Peter
