  1. Does Monday count as the weekend ?  Just got half a dozen in on the Wotty............ GG
  2. Hi Simon, Nigel,   I have a MUS and it's brilliant.  It is quite tough and I'd agree that it's pretty agile on 3S 1800 and a cheap 250 watt brushless set up.  I'm not sure I found it any less stable than any other model with limited dihedral though ..................   Mine will knife edge OK but does need lots of gas !     If you get one, don't bother with the four aileron wing set up as it's not worth the hassle.  Nor does it really need any flappery like coupled flaps amd elevators or flaperons   Completely different beast to the Formosa - ones a sport plane and the other is a sort of mini pattern ship.  Both are excellent fliers.  Of the two, I prefer the MUS as I like having an undercart. One mans meat etc. etc.    GG
  3. Hi John   Whilst it's a great plan, I'm not sure many of us would call the Twinstar a park flier ........... certainly not this side of the pond.   LHF, whilst I've had lots of park fliers, none of them have really been ding resistant.  I've had great fun with the GWS foamy warbirds but they get scruffy pretty quickly as they're made of polystyrene.  I'd also recommend the Mini Ultra Stick - that's balsa and film but relatively rugged; ceratinly if you can take off and land, you'd be fine with it.   Multiplex Parkmaster and Gemini are pretty ding resistant and great fliers by all accounts ..............   GG
  4. I don't think I've ever spent over £100 on a model - apart from pesky helis, which I've given up on.  I'm aiming to keep to that ................ does limit my choice of ARTF though !   GG
  5. Yesterday (Saturday) was showery and breezy; today is wet and windy.   Saturday I was swimming taxi but managed to fix my Rogue and finally make a start on fixing the Ultmate Fun Fly.  Flew some toy helis in the living room.............   Today we're visiting relatives - may get another hour in on the UFF.  Then I've only got the Tucano left to do.  Or I may buy another toy   GG
  6. I like the less glossy look - much easier on the eye.  Not keen on the blue bars in 'Switch On' etc.  Not sure about the opinion bars in reviews, they seem a little superficial - I know the detail is in the text but if we're going to summarise 'at a glance' shouldn't we have one about how well it flies ?  How about those used in this very forum ..................   Like the content - a nice mix.  Love the cover - was getting fed up of foamies.............. also hugely impressed at the artwork on Mr Ellisons F20.  Wow ! Nice one Slopetrash.     GG Edited By GrumpyGnome on 02/07/2009 07:04:44
  7. Nnnooooooooooooooooooooooo, don't say that - if we all keep quiet it may never happen and I'll get to fly year round !   Out again this monrting, nice and still and got a couple in against a backdrop of angry black clouds.   Found out why the MiniPanic was noisy - two of the four 'arms' of the motor mount were sheared.  Replaced and it's nice an quiet (ish) again.   And to make sure I don't get a Park Flyer tag  I was up at the field on Sunday and Monday.  Sunday was busy but I had the field all to myslef (plus wife and dog) Monday.  Started out misty but the sun burned it off by lunchtime.  Great !  Oh, wait, I flew my 'parkies' there as well.......... plus the slimers and those too big/fast/nosiy for the park   GG
  8. Hi Eric   Must admit I hadn't thought of the tracking - them blades being so short and stiff...... I'll have a gander when I get home.  Guess I'd best check them little paddles on the flybar as well .............   Ta   GG
  9. Windy here in halifax.  Threatening rain but dry so far.  Loks like I may need to water the garden again.     Had another few quickies this week.  Still not sure about this Shocky Stuff........................ might use the Rx in my Mini Ultra Stick instead   GG

  11. Working far too many hours .................. Skiving whilst I type this Pondering on how to ventilate the guinea pigs shed Wondering how I'm going to get the cycle out of the garage - it's 'buried' under all sorts of stuff Trying to stop the vibration in my Walkera 4-3 Deciding what EDF to try - cost is the major factor ! Prevaricating over covering my Tucano Prevaricating over fixing the wing of my Ultimate Fun Fly Fantasising about my wife
  12. Hi Phil   Did you keep the instructions ?  Lots of them will tell you what make of film it is covered with.  Alternatiovely, someone helpful like Motors & Rotors or Als Hobbies may be able to tell you ............ or send you some samples..................   I must admit I find it irritating when I have no suitable covering.  I've also resorted to: 1. Hiding holes with stickers 2. Putting some clear Solarfilm over the hole 3. Patching with a near match and adding some markings (e.g. a stripe) to hide it 4. Mixture of the above !   I console myslef with the fact that patches, dents etc, are a badge of honour and show that the plan earns its keep   GG
  13. Gosh, Simon, my list of 'what I have flown' would easily exceed 100 models.  To lots on here, that'd be on the way way waaaaayyyyy low side.   Currently have the following flying:   Fliton Rogue Mini Panic Severe 3D EasyStreet Wot 4 Elektro Junior S EHawk Walkera 4-3 Hummingbird Seagull Yak54 Twinstar.   About half a dozen planes in the eaves that could be presssed into service if necessary plus about bthe same number that need covering/fixing.  And about the same number of kits in boxes ............   GG
  14. Cool,   I'll list a few..........   Fliton Rogue: Woefully inadequate undercarriage legs and undercarriage fitting unless you fly from a bowling green.  I'll admit to some landings that could break eggs but I've had the undercarriage rip out on take off from my local park - it's not exactly a ploughed field ! Nice 'carbon' legs useless after about half a dozen take off and landings.     GG
  15. Hi David   Aargh, wouldn;t want a 'label'.  Must put the wotty in the car for a quick and noisy blast after work ...............   GG
  16. Ta Stuey. Any other views ?   GG
  17. Out Friday, Saturday, Sunday and this morning.    Remotored the Severe, so that's a bit nicer.  Still not sure this floaty-around-shocky stuff is for me.  Getting to love the sheer bonkers MIniPanic   GG
  18. Busy Saturday - just 'parkies' early a.m.   Hung over Sunday - didn't risk anything big or heavy.  Or being anywheer near anyone else ..................... 'parkies' again.  Did a few garage jobs - i.e. a few modelling things.   Wet today.  No wind though so........................  out with the 'parkies' !   Must start putting something in the car to fly at lunchtime/ater work..................   GG
  19. I'm in the third category - I happily fly both.  I have many more leccy planes though .................   GG
  20. I feel like dipping my toe in the water so I'm looking for a cheap plane, wth fan and motor, for 3S (1800Mah or so) or 4S (2500 MaH or so) Lipos. I have servos, rx, Lipos etc. laying aroiund so just after the airframe, fan and motor.    Donlt want to spend a lot as I may not like it.   Suggestions ?   GG
  21. Out again this morning ........ at about 6:00  only had the Rogue charged though.   It was quite strange.  There was a patch of mist/fog - white stuff ! - over half of the park.  had fun flying in and out of it as it slowly drifted along.    Got a very wet and muddy plane as we had some heavy rain last night.  Worth it though !   GG
  22. Hoorah !  No rain, no wind.  Got flights in on the Mini Panic, Rogue and Severe before work.   I won't say what time in case that nice Mr Bray is still in a bad mood   GG
  23. Not flown since Saturday.  Going slowly mad ................ GG
  24. Yes, light mornings are fab aren't they ?  I get to fly in my local park (we call it The Moor being as how it's Yorkshire) on the way to work. Including this morning - was there at 5:45 Mini Panic - complely bonkers ! Rogue - lovely and smooth Severe 3D - this sat in the eaves unloved for a couple of years as I didn't like the floaty aerobatic 3D stuff.  Slowly getting into it now ..............   GG
