  1. the Gnat looks most impressive; I'm hanging out for the plan and not the free one if it is quicker in delivery
  2. correct nose for that particular rego although I do prefer the other nose too.
  3. Looking good Are you going to place the retract as per plan or like the original with it down at the down lock?
  4. Posted by Chris Barlow on 29/04/2015 21:23:30: One of my favourite aircraft ever after reading Biggles books as a kid! This might be my big winter build later this year. Haha, another Biggles fan, my staple reading for years. In later life I decided to collect all the books I did not already have, turned out to be a bit more expensive than I envisioned but got there in the end after scouring the world
  5. That looks good No problem with Oleo length for me as my build is 65" and the oleos are the same length as on the scaled down plan
  6. Such is life, things never go entirely smoothly. I was intending to drill the top of the strut and use that as the pivot point rather than adding an extra piece to fit onto the mounting bracket. I have made aluminium triangular mounting brackets (pretty much as per plan) and am going to use a 3mm rod through the top of the struts with a pair of the brackets in between. That is the plan anyway, time will tell if it is OK or not
  7. You are doing pretty much what I had in mind, even got the HK struts put aside and the mounting brackets made but my metal working skills are about zero so this is on the back burner at the moment. Yours are looking really good so I will be following this with a great deal of interest
  8. With that (censored) gone, maybe they can produce a real motoring show
  9. Posted by denis parkinson on 03/03/2015 18:46:05: Reviews on Screwfix website for the Titan, range from "worst scroll saw ever" to "top quality" That's the problem with the net, no matter what you are looking for ,the various opinions vary so much that you are none the wiser despite hours of research.
  10. Modelmarkings, great service, email him what you want and good as done Edited By Brian Wilson 2 on 26/02/2015 06:16:27
  11. Thank you all for the input on this and I am now inclined to consider non scale aluminium
  12. I was looking at the vacuum formed spinner/bases such as supplied by Traplett and my question is: how is the spinner and base attached to each other? Gluing would make a rather too permanent joint while if small screws were used they could pose a danger to eyes. The only spinner sI have previous experience with have a screw in the centre but this does not look like an option with the vacuum formed ones. Could someone enlighten me please?
  13. Hi Stu, that is essentially what I had in mind, thank you for the comment.
  14. I was considering it in the manner of a loose fitting bowden cable arrangement....it would only be tight when the wheel was in the down position. I thought that passing through a tube would not really be any different from a control wire which runs around a pulley to change direction. I know this is not the norm but I am always looking at new ways of doing things. Edited By Brian Wilson 2 on 03/02/2015 05:29:37
  15. I have never used a pull pull system but need one for a future project for tail wheel steering and was thinking of running this through a tube , ie both wires converge into the tube at the servo end and diverge at the rear. The reason I considered this was for accessibility reasons. Is this a practical solution?
  16. Keith, how was yours for balance ? My build is almost finished and it seems a little tail heavy based on using a 2200mAh battery which I have on hand. In saying that, it may be self inflicted as I mounted my ESC's in the fuselage immediately behind the COG but I would not have thought that would have much effect. Thanks, Brian Edited By Brian Wilson 2 on 27/11/2014 01:12:31
  17. Thank you for the comments guys, almost as many preferences as there are options which should tell me something Brian
  18. I hate cutting slots and CA hinges although the result is reasonably satisfactory but have often wondered what other builders preferred hinging types are and why

  20. Posted by Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator on 27/07/2014 20:53:01: No, I'd have felt it if I was. BEB   I would refer you to page 10 of 'Biggles goes to school'   Back on topic, one of the suppliers here in NZ lists Y leads with bullits so they must be available although he is showing no stock at the moment, right when I could use 2 Edited By Brian Wilson 2 on 27/07/2014 22:34:28 Edited By Brian Wilson 2 on 27/07/2014 22:35:18
  21. Small point and totally off subject, sorry, but wasn't Biggles' elder brother killed in action?
