  1. hi chaps can the on board rx be reflashed as l have already done all my frsky rx,s this is the only one lm not sure about.
  2. just bought a warlark 80 quad with frsky receiver. Have tried to bind in both DJT and D 16 european. can this only be bound in in non european D8 or have l got to reflash either of the quad or the tx.
  3. Hi chaps l have been trying to reflash two brand new X6R receivers. l have been following a mixture of Painless 365 and sincere advice given by some very helpful forumites. It seems so simple to do mmmmmmmmmm!!!!. l would like to start again from ground zero. My taranis plus was purchased in the early part of 2015, l still use the original taranis firmware. The taranis shows i,m running open tx -9dp -v2.0.92-eu with a date of 2015-02 -27. The taranis shows D16-eu on the internal RF. My question is have l started up the wrong road ( the rx,would not bind to the taranis straight out of the box). and what am l running is it EU then why did the new rx,s not bind or am l running something else. Cheers chaps.
  4. Hi Grahame l hope you are getting your Tx/Rx problems sorted. What a great bunch of people who are willing to help. The giving a man a fish and teaching a man to fish anecdote is perfect. Thank you for leaving a light on in a dark place. From the questions you have posed, several issues have been resolved for me.
  5. Hi chaps l do apologise if l have offended anybodys sensabilitys its the concussion from banging my head against a brick wall. Anyways cheers matty b and all those others who dont mind repeating themselves to help others.
  6. Hi Graham, don't think l will be holding my breath anytime soon it seems the the clever dickies out there seem to love the wiff of superiority hanging in the air. If someone was to come out and say, yes we have changed the rx,s too some thing else and by connecting them to your existing software on your taranis you can reflash or whatever, to get the new stuff to work with the tx you deliberately went out and bought. How many actually use the full capability of the early open tx let alone the Christmas tree of bells ,lights, whistles on the new open tx. Yes (keep it simple). o,well back to the cave too early for beer. dam !!!
  7. Hi chaps l have a taranis plus with the original open tx x9dp-v2.0.92eu. l want to get some more receivers some x6r lbt firmware will these be compatible with the tx firmware or do l have to try and source some international rx. I have just gone on some of the you tube sites and now I'm even more confused.it seems l have to reflash my firm ware on what the tx or the rx l bought the bloody frsky gear because l thought it was future proofed. One of the club members has the same setup/equipment and has bought the new brt rx,s and they wont bind. Wasn't it some ancient Greek bloke who said, We finally get ourselves sorted into a cohesive group and then they come along and change it Going to retreat to the back of my cave hang up the animal skins and club and drink lots of beer.
  8. Hi trevor. yep the brick type of controls are what most of the small indoor models have been designed around l suppose its better for the manufacturing process. What l would like is a little more choice of set up, being able to replace individual parts. l had a few failures over the season. Tried to do some replacements but did more damage with the soldering iron.
  9. Hi Mike, thats handy l have some 1/2 s batteries from my collection of mini helis. i bought the Fokker D7 and the Nieuport fun fly. Both very nice kits. The fokker is a little awkward to get the wing struts and incidents right ( a former or jig would be handy, eh Stevens) . Also bought Hobby kings Biplane the copernicus, l will use this build to see how to shoe horn everything in. Thanks for the info safe flying. Jim.
  10. Hi Mike thanks for the info and links. Wow!! 20 mins of flight time what size of battery are you using.
  11. Hi Allen I found my taranis making some strange noises. It worked out to be any mobile phone within about 2 to 3 feet. I now leave the phone in my motor.
  12. Hi chaps just built a couple of the Stevens indoor micro aircraft but would like a different power unit. A brushless motor and Esc. I dont like the power brick I find them unreliable ( its a pain in the bum to try and replace one part ). The geared motors sound worn out even when they are brand new. So l need a little help in sizing up a brushless motor. I already own some micro receivers and servos. I know i will have to perform a little surgery to make them fit but would rather do that than fit the crappy geared motors.
  13. HI chaps l too have a puppeteer that l recently aquired. It has been 4/5 ths covered in what l have been in formed as nylon. l would like to finish the plane off in the same stuff ( as quite a fair amount came with the plane) l have never used nylon covering and would be grateful for what to use to stick it down also do you use thinned dope to tighten it any hints or tips will be gratefully received .
  14. hi all l would like to find out how to size up a prop. l would like to be able to change from a 2 blade to a 3 or 4 blade.
  15. Hi chaps just built the FMS foamie hellcat but not flown it yet has anybody found any probs with it.
  16. hi all l need some 1.27 female sockets. the type you find on Horizon micro aircraft. these need to be able to be solderd on. micron models are out of stock and l would like to have an alternate supplier. Can anybody help. Cheers, Jim.
  17. HI Ian. I wouldn't worry to much, I started a build on this same top flite kit some 14 years ago, I ordered up some twist and turn air operated retracts from Unitracts. The time and trouble it took me to install them put a real damper on doing any more to the kit and it was put up on a shelf in the workshop. It hung over me and points an accusing finger. I took it back off the shelf a couple of months back with Bit of renewed enthusiasm and started again this time doing bit of retro fitting of the pilots cockpit and now have decided to convert it over to electric. If anybody out there has already done this how did you make the battery hatch. While putting in the retracts did you have to cut away a rather alarming amount of the wing formers to accommodate the main body of the retract unit (another reason it went up on the shelf). my confidence in the wing strength has been compromised. Still is that why we build just to get around problems. Like all the rest hope you better feel soon. Jim Longbon.
  18. Hi chaps. Didn't quite know what my observation on the Frsky or open source but the whole of the 2.4 band equipment would generate. I am glad that others on this forum do understand and are more informed than me. thank you chaps for holding up the candle in the dark.
  19. Hi chaps as a newbie to the open source system, reading these messages has started to worry me slightly. Have have l just thrown away Quite a considerable investment in TX,s and RX,s as well telementery gear. Or is the RC equipment bought post the latter end of 2014 hopefully be future proofed as was promised ???.
