  1. What about a XVI? It has the Merlin, but also has the pointy fin, and comes in high-back and low-back flavours....
  2. I saw recently that there's another version of that little '109 (with the differential thrust) in a different paint scheme, as well as a Spitfire that looks somewhat like the Volantex version. Was always tempted to get one just for fun.
  3. I recently acquired a 2200kv motor, so decided to have a look at using it in a mini Spitfire build. (Yeah, I know I could build other things, but I've always had a mini Spit in mind.) Got the plans printed off to 60%, so it's roughly the same size as the FT Mighty Mini Mustang, and I figure I can use the same power/prop/battery setup for it. I'll keep you guys posted....!
  4. This one came up in my Facebook memories today - the infamous Pinky!
  5. Well, it's still a toss-up between the Battle of Britain Spitfire, and a Dunkirk veteran - the Dunkirk aircraft being Duxford-based N3200. The black and white underside is something I haven't yet done...!
  6. Yeah, it's a bit of a rare bird. Certainly can't seem to find one these days (or the Mustang or Zero, for that matter). It will quite happily fly circuits at about 50% throttle, and in quite a small space.
  7. Ahh, not that Spitfire. This Spitfire. This is one that I probably have more flight time with than anything else! I bought it back when I was getting back into the hobby, and while it's nowhere near as capable as the Volantex/Eachine jobs, it's perfect for a nice cruise in the right conditions.
  8. I wish we had somewhere indoors to fly in, as I have a little Spit just begging to be buzzed around a suitable hall!
  9. Since I now have a Hurricane to go with the Spitfire, I've decided to do them in Battle of Britain-era colour schemes. Even though they're only sport-scale models, I want to do decent jobs of them. The Hurricane will wear the colours and markings of airworthy veteran R4118, while the Spit will have the markings of Spitfire IIa P7350.
  10. Ah! I forgot I had seen one on here already! The style of construction really suits the model - more so than the Spitfire, anyway. Now, if only I could decide on a scheme for the Spit....!
  11. I got one of these for Christmas, and I'm looking forward to putting it together soon. Anyone else got one? I'm debating doing a Battle of Britain paint scheme on mine, since it's the 85th anniversary next year.
  12. I had (in order of purchase) the Eachine Mustang, Corsair, Trojan, Me109 and Spitfire. They were all really good fun, with my particular favourite being the Spit (obviously), with the Mustang in second place. The Mustang, though, was probably the best of the five, as it was very solid and a huge confidence-giver, especially since I was basically teaching myself how to fly during the pandemic. Then I sold them. Like the idiot that I am. I bought the Volantex Spitfire and found it to be exactly the same as the Eachine version, if not slightly better. One thing I noticed with the Eachine Spit is that, at high speed, it had a tendency to wobble quite a bit in a dive. My first Eachine Me109 had a habit of screwing out of a loop. In beginner mode, you press the button, pull the stick and it would loop but would kinda come out heading 90 degrees in the wrong direction - could never figure out why. However, the new one doesn't do that. One thing I did notice, though, is that the new '109 seems to have a low battery beeper, which none of the others had. I tried the first flight with it, and almost instantly the beeper went off (which I thought was strange as the battery was charged properly). Change of battery, and it was all good.
