  1. Increasing demand perhaps C8, but insufficient to keep afloat a business unless they run it as a labour of love. Meanwhile, I too have offered Daniel (who resides in Malta), the possibility of Flair SE5a plan copies at cost. They consist of two(2) very large sheets. (My local copy shop normally charges circa £10 - £15 for that size).
  2. There was until fairly recently (? a year or two back), a 'side-line business' offering legitimate original Flair items e.g. Plans, Decals, Vac-Form Mouldings and partial wood kits. (I know because I refurbished a second hand e-bay bought SE5a by this means ! ). I understood the manager of the concern was using the project to train apprentices in various aspects of production etc.. It was hoped that if enough interest and/or the project successful, further Flair items including a limited run of kits might be produced. I noticed some of these items were up for sale on ebay. As nothing further seems to have been announced, one might assume the project has now sadly ceased, all the more unfortunate given current times.
  3. Just come across this interesting development by Airbus: **LINK** Very neat aerial video and skilled piloting too.
  4. Two similar threads going on here - See also '45A w/BEC ESC'
  5. As often as is possible and practical, I secure my over spec. required ESC underneath with the heatsink open to the airflow as in this picture:
  6. Excellent. It's a superb model. The kit and the final flying performance on electric power, (of course ) is excellent. I found a vertical drop in LiPo, near the front bulkhead achieved the required C of G position. Keep control throws and power down to a minimum so as to avoid Dutch Roll. She just putters around gracefully against blue skies and fluffy white clouds, a true delight you will enjoy I'm sure.
  7. Agree. Is there really only a very limited film stock? Always the same camera gun shots, (no pun intended!). Same Luftwaffe views too, often of early Heinkel 111, Stuka, Me109 etc. etc. same footage, time and time again. Did other film stock disintegrate or be destroyed, thrown out(?) Perhaps a film buff can tell us. Another bone of contention, the constant repeating of the storyline or programme theme, (assuming there is one?). This is especially so on commercial channels, as if many if not most of their target audience have no attention span to remember what featured before the break ... Argh!!!! To counter, there are some very interesting films, often official RAF training or PR material of the time which is often amusing for its style and presentation. Watched one about 'Phantom' jet safety the other day which featured actors 'between real jobs' too e.g. Trevor Eve aka Eddie Shoestring. (His long hair wouldn't have pleased the SWO!) There are many documentaries and aircraft walk arounds on YouTube but need a bit of finding at times e.g. Kermit Weeks and his vast collection of aircraft including the Sunderland which was based at Calshot UK for a while.
  8. Anything before January 2016 will not display (the covers are temptingly shown though ! ).
  9. These type of interference are not as isolated as might seem. Commercial ovens e.g. Baker's, Confectioners, Biscuit Makers etc. etc. switch these on and off at often set times coinciding with work patterns and shifts. A dodgy connection or two in these or some other component misbehaving, (and other equipment), can easily generate disruptive signals. Maybe your clubmate 'Old Joe' did suffer a radio glitch on 2.4 after all!
  10. NX3 users, How much, (relative to the 'clock' description), do you have the pots dialled in on your aircraft? I now have several NX3 installed on different airframes. So far all seem happy with no more than '9' (or '3' o'clock relative to the required servo direction. Tried a little more and certainly on aileron control, the model 'waggled' its wings, wasn't too happy. The pots seem very sensitive once they start to 'bite' and are active, (no two pots appear quite the same!). Models include a 'Uno-Wot', 'WOT Trainer' and a high wing cabin semi scale - Spans up to 60+ inch.
  11. 105mm from Leading Edge / Adjust to personal taste of course!
  12. Airpaddler PM me I have a copy in front of me now I can scan and send.
  13. In a word - Practicalities. Suitable flying sites that can accommodate all wind directions. Average age of participants less (not always!) mobile and agile to chase after models. UK weather - winds showing a trend to increase in strength less suitable to flying sites available. Closure or restriction of traditional military venues used e.g. Middle Wallop. And of course .... fewer 'fetchermites' these days!
  14. Here are photos of the actual 'Rain*X' bottle as used (200ml size). (Can't recall where I bought it. Maybe Halfords, possibly even Aldi on one of their motoring specials Thursdays). It didn't require a great amount, applied on a kitchen towel and of course rubbed in. It does, (obviously) get very sticky as the 'rubber' loosens but on my radio it ALL came off and revealed a beautiful smooth plastic casing. I did this quite a while ago and the application in no way harmed the plastic case. Obvious health caution, do this outside application as the 'Rain*X' has quite a bouquet!
