  2. Are there any how-to-threads about this mysterious laminating film?   Edited By Joakim Karlsson 1 on 30/01/2021 22:08:46
  3. Posted by kevin b on 30/01/2021 19:09:58: Hi Joakim. There is a plan for a 36ins (915mm) control line model on Outerzone which could be modified. Have you had a look at the FW 194 ? This is a similar looking aeroplane and there are more plans around. Sure you don't mean FW 187?
  4. All valid points, I will investigate! I knew this was the right place to ask around for it
  5. Very happy to see people building the P-51! A plane with a lot of colour schemes to choose from. Thought I'd post a couple of favorites while I finish eating my meatballs, bork bork!
  6. Posted by Dwain Dibley. on 30/01/2021 15:41:48: Sarik have this Matey D.D. Yepp, I know about that one. And I believe Don Smith have plans for an even larger one. But are unfortunately too large for me.
  7. Have been looking around for a kit (or ARF I guess) for this charming ugly duckling. But I have only found a couple of large ones. Would love to see this one around 1.6 - 1.8m, that way you could still fit it with retracts and flaps, and get away with less expensive motors, ESC and batteries. I think this would be a great twin engine trainer plane in a simple and very practical warbird costume. With the placement of the motors vs the stab and fin it would be able to land even if one motor failed. Not like the dreaded P-38 death spin.   Edited By Joakim Karlsson 1 on 30/01/2021 15:47:43
  8. Sounds great! And congratulations (and thanks!) on a very successfull design     Edited By Joakim Karlsson 1 on 29/01/2021 18:53:12

If not then the thought of making blades from scratch seems more daunting that reality. It’s not that difficult if you select the wood and have either a belt sander or David plane and sanding blocks. Have a go! What’s the worst that can happen? You are quite spot on. The fabrication of the blades has been something that has made me turn around when looking at autogyros earlier. But like you said, whats the worst that can happen? Also, it will be faster to sand blades out of wood than it will be to print them. But might give both a try. Whats scaring me a bit now is making the GF triangle head plate. I guess the holes have to be quite spot on not to cause balance issues. I know those plates are available from Coolwind. But I really want to be able to make my own in case of a crash. And I don't think a 3D printed one will hold up as well as GF, or perhaps it will if you make it three times thicker? Two other things. There are three discs available at Thingiverse called H1, H2 and H3. What are those? And is the article available in PDF format somewhere?

  11. I am really tempted to get me one of these. The design is awsome, well done! There is even some parts for 3D printing on Thingiverse. But I'm wondering about the short kit available from Sarik Hobbies. Looking at the "Plan, Laser Cut & Additional Wood Pack" product. Anyone know if it includes GF parts and landing gear? My guess is that it doesn't, since its not mentioned Any good source for those things?
  12. I haven't even bought mine yet Had some trouble deciding between Seagulls 60-sized P-47 and VQ new P-47 in 40-50 size. I'm quite fond of both manufacturers. But I have a Laser 100 and a bunch of PowerHD 6001MG servos, already, so it looks like it'll be a Snafu soon enough.
  13. Thank you Jon! I really should read the whole thread before asking questions now shouldn't I?
  14. Very neat installation. How does the Laser fare being inverted? Also, I have an older version of the Laser 100. Should I bother installing a pressure nipple on the exhaust?
  15. Looks good. Many thanks for the info!
  16. Great thanks! Did they fit in the wing without modifications? Did you use the oleos you got with the plane or buy other ones?   Edited By Joakim Karlsson 1 on 23/09/2018 19:05:23
  17. Hi guys! I'm buying this plane as a christmas present for myself And I have a Laser 100 I'm putting in this one, seems a like a great match. A question though, which HK retracts and oleos are you guys using?
  18. Doesn't this subject really deserve its own thread instead of hijacking the current one?
  19. That would certainly make for a better flying model. But I live in an apartment and 40-60 sized airplanes is my limit.
  20. I second the Glister Gladiator request! Or J8 as it was called in Sweden. Around 1200mm would be nice and easy to transport. https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQg1adxh-KyA8f_JILaAr1Lb6GbHzKHiNj3c_D_aoPfNW_fPqOo
  21. Another thing, that I don't like to admit, is that people are scared of warbirds. No matter how good they fly, they still have that bad reputation. Actually something I'm missing in my hangar is a trainer, thats not a trainer Something that I can always bring to the field just to fly. It doesn't have to be scale. Just easy maintenance. A back to the roots kind of plane. Similar to the Stick planes with a bit more finesse perhaps (aka canopy), optional flaps. And in the future a twin version! The older gents at my field are scared to death of warbirds. Their eyesight and reflexes aren't that good anymore. And many are just goofing around with Fun Cubs. They could use a building project for the winter
  22. This might come across as a bit mean and a bit harsh. But I just want to give you some insight from a non UK perspective. I live in Sweden and got started with rc airplanes just when the electric side started to flourish and GWS started to pump out foam planes. After the first year I wanted to build something, and I wanted to build a warbird. I made several searches on the internet and just by pure accident I stumbled on a build thread of the La7. I then continued to ask around if anyone had built a kit from this company known as Warbird Replica. But no one around here had ever heard about these kits. I took the plunge and bought one, and was very happy I did. It was my first build and it went through several catastrophes and builder errors. It came out on the heavy side, I had a lot of trouble with the engine overheating and the paint started to fall off after a while. All of it my fault(s) Some years later I actually got a job at a hobbystore, and unfortunately got a bit sick and tired of looking at rc airplanes all day long, especially ARF's. But that is what sold... Some years a go the store closed down because we couldn't compete with Hobbyking and such. And I got back into the hobby again. I thought I would give that La7 another go, made a search and found out that Warbird Replica had a new webpage, good stuff! But the La7 was not in stock... I e-mailed Richard and asked about when it would be back in stock, but he couldn't give me a specific date. One day I stumbled upon the page again and there was some new listings for BF-110 parts. I started to search around and found out that I had totally missed the train again Then I found this forum and got on the list of customers to sign up for another batch of the larger La7, this time I wouldn't miss that damn plane again! Still when I ask around and mentions Warbird Replica, no one here have heard of the company. Now with that long and winding road here comes the harsh and mean part... If you want to sell your wares people need to see that you exists and that you have goods to deliver. The new webpage is great, but it gives very little information on whats going on (IMHO). If there was a link to threads like this and the other listings for people who wanted to buy planes that wasn't even listed on the webpage. Also, reconsider the name. Its not very searchable, a lot of full scale stuff shows up as well. Now that in itself can be nice, but it doesn't do you any favours. And too sell, things need to be in stock, the "new generation" loose interest very quickly if they can't order on the spot and get their stuff in a couple of days. How to solve this? I don't know. But if we got some build threads going on the larger forums that would generate some traffic to the webstore for sure. And I really do believe that these kind of kits are really up "the new generations" alley. Its a quick build and it needs to be proven!
  23. Richard Willis, do you have decals for the large model?
