  1. Smoking is deemed bad, look at the modern view on it. My twin brother (we were of two eggs) died of cystic fibrosis, nothing to do with pollution etc. What annoys me is the anti smoking wagon, I smoke, but I do it outside, people who called for a smoking ban are in my opinion duplicitous, they bang on about the dangers of smoke and second hand smoke..... then they leave their smoke free pub......... get into a "car" and go home . Wether poisoning others with their cars exhaust, or using an electric car (who's recycling is not yet quantifiable) we cannot continue with our current speed of advancement and attempt to be holier than though at the same time.
  2. The old view that using mobiles in hospitals would interfere with life saving equipment is just that, ....old.... my wife watches a well known doc on londons St. George's etc... and almost every episode shows people on phones. So no peter, no need to move away from the patient.
  3. Looking really good! I have to admit that when I saw the early size of the nose I thought it looked a bit big, but everything's coming together nicely
  4. Could you link it Tom? Searched "maplins" but no exhaustive thread comes up?

    Pedantic

i don't understand the op's rant? Do you have a window box? Spring is coming and you could plant some bulbs. Google Terrarium and really up the interest! even visit your local library and ask for the book "if it's hot, should I poke it?" im sure at the last straw there's a " look at you're knees," book, its interactive, look at you're knees after every online post, if they twitch you lose .
  6. No probs ASH, I've been accused of being a little too sensitive sometimes . Perhaps imperfection is what makes those historical figures of the past so fascinating?
  7. Posted by ASH. on 24/02/2018 22:02:07: Posted by Percy Verance on 24/02/2018 07:21:14: The moment his funeral flotilla passed the dock cranes on the Thames, the crane drivers swung their gantries towards the river and lowered them in salute. Completely unscripted, and a moving touch...... I have seen that same b&w film clip Percy and was quite moved by it. However, I later found out it was all rigged, dockers did not work at the weekend and were payed to come in and perform the act. Rigged? Is a very disrespectful use of the occasion. How about rehearsed? Like or loath, he deserved a send off as great as any, as regard to his private life? Bless him, none of us are above judgement.
  8. Last time I purchased solar film from my local model shop, obviously old stock, because on unpeeling the backing some of the colour flaked away from the edges. I'm not building or covering anymore so it doesn't matter to me, but I reckon this hobby is going through not a revolutionary change, but a supply and demand the likes has never been seen.
  9. Bitten by an Adder when I was about 12, threw up green stuff and felt rough for a least a week.
  10. (Quote) Due to the continued shrinking of the model industry...... ironic huh?
  11. Eh Martin? I have to say that I too thought it was a random thread to increase forum activity, but then I saw when it was originally posted? Why have you sought this thread out?
  12. He was allergic to cats, so he used to keep a kitten in his pocket and sniff it from time to time Ted! Do ya remember when jack went off with sister Imelda that time? ....... "oh god yes,..... the blue nun"!
  13. Posted by cymaz on 31/01/2018 19:33:36: “ Nuns ....REVERSE”. Good old Jack! You're thinking of Father Ted! My all time fav show,
  14. You Looks very similar to my Amethyst! You are getting on with it nicely!
  15. SoPosted by ChrisB on 22/01/2018 17:35:15 Unless it had passed you by, this is a model flying forum. Most people fly in the countryside, often from sites that have crops nearby. Clearly there are 'arrivals' in those crops and for the most part that is fine. That can't happen if the field is full of solar panels. I have been flying model aircraft for 27 years since I was 11. I consider it to not just be a pastime to dabble with now and then but part of my life. A purpose built workshop, a modelling van (dirty nasty diesel 2007 covering 2000 miles a year) and over 30 flyable models of all shapes and sizes totalling a small fortune, very much like many hundreds of other aeromodellers. I'm heavily involved in the running of a club including mowing, membership secretary and events. So yes I am being serious and if that makes me selfish then so be it! Edited By ChrisB on 22/01/2018 17:41:44 It hasn't passed me by at all, so what you are saying is, farmers have less rights than hobbyists? Your passion, money and club involvement (and yes this is coming from a fellow hobbyist) pale into insignificance when compared to a farmer who's land is his bread and butter not just a pastime, let's call it what it is, it's a "pastime" it's not a way of life, it's not the be all and all of country life, whereas as farmers life is. I'm sorry you feel that that you're many models and modes of transporting them are more important...... says a lot about you.
  16. It's funny isn't it, how we pick and choose our reasons for the better. Stop smoking..... etc.... cancer causing.... etc.... stopped from smoking in pubs..... etc... yet, drive a car, either petrol or diesel? .....well let's just ignore that hey
  17. Posted by ChrisB on 21/01/2018 22:52:12: I don’t suppose it will John but still, I hate the thought of our farmer filling his fields with solar panels as that would stop us flying completely. At least crops can be overflown. Can't believe you are being serious with that statement. Selfishness is ugly.
  18. I would comment, but I'm, very....... very ...... dwunk.......
  19. Posted by KiwiKid on 07/01/2018 13:54:05: Thanks guys. Tom the "Bird of Time" is actually a brute of a thing called a Gliderman. It is a Chinese knock off of the BoT and comes standard with a motor mount and ailerons and (now) flaps - available from TheBuildRC. I just put a BoT sticker on it as a wind up. It weighs almost twice what a BoT glider does, but actually flies well, powers through wind and is a passable thermaler. It really excels at sloping and park flying. well it fooled me!
  20. Love it! Such an unusual design. How do you find the rudder ont he bird of time you have there? Found mine to be very spongy!
