  1. I did recall, somewhere on the site saying " vat paid by us" but I thought that nonsense but it could be correct then. Any views on best carrier, RM or courier? in no rush BUT would like to think it will not get lost! RM at moment not great in my area.
  2. Would any one know if this purchase will get Tax or Duty and Handling? Its from china and 5 small PCB`s , Bill is in £`s and £15.98p Shipping options, DHL £13 and £11 for 2-4 and 4-6 days... FedEx £8 for 6-8 days OR Royal mail air mail £4 for 12-16 days Main question as above what extra`s will I get charged? Secondly I am in no rush at, willing to wait for RM option BUT is that a good service? are courier better option? Would use FedEx if so. Any info or recs would be brill, Thanks
  3. Posted by Stuphedd on 10/01/2021 16:08:57: I also got caught out on an item I bought from ebay last week for £12 , when I came to pay for it , it was £14.40 !! Not there till I read the small print , so yes beware !!! and it was a RC part !! Then I suppose you had to pay the rip off "handling" charge? I do not have any probs with VAT etc. Its just the way out of proportion amount.
  4. I understand that "signing" for stuff at this time could be looked on as "dangerous" . So why on earth don't RM stop using that service, why take some ones money for a service that will not be met, that`s besides the longer time its taking at times. Just sell the 1st class not signed and not tracked,.thats doing about the same as 48hr signed. They will not do that though because that service is cheaper in my experience
  5. Posted by Dickw on 01/01/2021 15:50:15: My previous purchase from the Eu have always included VAT at the rate applicable in the country I was buying from, and no further costs added. I recently purchase some electronic equipment from the USA and for an item at a cost of £124.96 (including postage) the courier charged me an extra £16.10 customs duties etc. (no idea how that was calculated so don't ask!) I expect imports from the Eu will now be similar to imports from other places like the USA. Dick ps I have just found and downloaded the customs forms I may now need when sending an item back to the Eu for repair Your, comment about,"no idea how that was calculated" is why I stopped buying from overseas. Courier companies never charged me the same "handling" charges twice! have you tried contacting these people????!!!!!!!!!
  6. Probably of topic here, was not going to post until I see a post about apostrophe`,"`s. As someone with Dyslexia for many years and a age when this was not recognised putting a comma etc in the right place is way way down on my worries, I could not give a monkeys/monkies or monkey`", s if ,I spell mods ,mod`s or its or it`s. One of the new mods/mod`s might need to correct some of this post because stress causes my Dyslexia to flair up

If those are the gerber files for a PCB this guy has designed you can get 5 PCB's made for you by www.JLCPCB.com for around $5 (size and complexity dependent but a good size double sided is ok). plus postage The trouble with the above is , overseas shipping and duties but more so the delays with covid etc. Plus for me I did not understand the "Gerber" file system and could not even open them on my PC. For me the "proto" type will be good enough. No extra costs. No duty, just carriage, which is dependant on how quick you want the PCB. - you *can* get it in 4 business days if you want to pay for it. If you download a gerber file viewer your computer will be able to view the file. gerbv.exe google it. Thanks for the help. But its not just a case of dragging some files across. It asks for many other options that I have no idea about. Not much info on ordering and for someone with no experience of pcb`s and components its bewildering.
  8. Dennis if OK,can I PM you a picture or link?

  10. Just wondering if any one would be able to help/advise on the following? I do not want to link OR name the guy but he has designed and built a "project" on YT and given all the details and files etc for others to copy/build. I would imagine guys who know electronics will follow the above with no issue BUT I know nothing of electronics, I can solder to good level. Being YT its not the best place to ask questions or discuss and for me I can not follow the guys directions, spoken or written. I can find all the parts listed to make the module. His prototype which although not neat will suit my needs ,uses ordinary PCB sheet, with holes predrilled. He does not show how to wire this. His latest version uses a PCB that you send files away and its made for you,you just fit the components. I would rather go with the "untidy" prototype . There are no components mounted to the made to order PCB that I am aware of. I do not really want to post a link to the channel and look like I am knocking the guys work. it would be great if someone would be willing to take a PM of the details and see if using the shop bought PCB to make the prototype was possible. I think the module and build is pretty simple for the electronics guys. Hope that makes sense.
  11. Don't use ebay much but just heard a new Point of purchase tax as come in. So if you buy from US or Japan say you pay tax when you buy. That's ok BUT does Ebay notify HMRC that I have paid OR do we get ripped off again and pay twice? I honestly can not see ebay and the government getting this running right.
  12. Climate change? Sorry Cuban8 just watched the news and its getting blamed for everything!
  13. So I have just been into a E-cig shop which sells A123 18650 cells and chargers. The cells look quality by the way. The dedicated charger they sell charges to 4.2v ,my LiPo charger set to A123 will charge to 3.65v. So whats correct? will the 4.2v drop pretty soon after the charge? if not its a big difference.
  14. Sorry I might not have stated clearly, if I look along the TE its not ruler straight. it has some waviness. Wanted to know if this is "unacceptable" OR " s**t happens, live with it"
  15. Should a TE on a "funfly" be knife edge sharp? This will sound worse than it is BUT my build which is not flat bottomed sort of undulates along the wing. I think its a slight variation in ribs .I did not see it when I glued the top TE strip on. when I glued the very rear "wedge" that's sandwich between the strips I se it then. Its straight ,no banana bends JUST wavy!!!!
