  1. All, Getting there. I have repaired the flaps. And started on the weathering. Decals are going on tonight....
  2. Paul, I think it's in the curved bit of the flap. It never sat comfortably home. I might need to take it out and re-sheet the curve. Not happy with it... ahhh so close.
  3. Ok I have had a play. I can get it to sit like this but the servo is humming away like crazy.
  4. Sorry auto correct changed it. Its 5 - 10mm will take a photo later
  5. I need to do a tiny bit more painting but was checking the control surfaces and gear on the wings. The left flap is not fully retracing maybe 50mm lower than the right. Should I cut it out and fix or will it be OK?
  6. Just weight her obviously not complete but tried to include all the bits. 2.5kg without battery (5.5lbs in old money). Does that sound about right.
  7. Update on p51 Getting to final paint stages... And starting to check servo and retract setup.
  8. I had been looking as well and wondered if I could reproduce some of the more less modeled planes in foam board as it would be quicker than balsa and you can buy foamboard. I bought the mosquito from flite test as love the plane and having a kit it good way to understand how its done before you go your own way. The other area of interest is 3d printed. I was at the rchotel in corfu last week and they were testing a number of printed models from 3dprintlabs. They were big and heavy but flew well and looked the part.
  9. Bit of an update the painting is nearly finished. Then need to sort out the nose and correct the control surface linkages and we might be ready to maiden.
  10. So started laying down some of the silver and marked out the location of the stripes.
  11. Trevor Yes, it is going OK. The first bit of paint has gone on. I Think I need more practice covering but it looks OK at 6 foot. I won't be able to fly for a few weekends so going to get base colours down so ensure good visibility on maiden. The prop assembly is not quite right and has 1mm of vaiation that I think is down to my grinding of the prop shift so that's on the todo list when Mrs S. Is away this week. Then it's final fettle and fit..... Will post some pics later in the week.
  12. David, did you fix the issue as I now have it on the p51
  13. Richards Warbirds Replica are a 4s3500. I am yet to fly mine but everybody else swears by them. Otherwise the Arrow range seem a cheap reliable foam warbird. I think flying style and what you like will depend on what you get. Do you want to build or do you just want a warbird?
  14. There does not seem that many ww1 scout kits, I have been looking for a good se5 for a while.
  15. Eric, A master piece, I love the way you have been able to use the glass. What did you use to get the dimensions and shape right ? Kind regards, Jon
  16. Eric, you have the skill to "Do It Yourself" this is defiantly the cheaper and will produce the exact size and shape you want. I think I need to build a Flite Test one first to see how it works then see if I can replicate their methods to build something else. A bit like Richards planes are a nice way to build your first balsa model. For the money I did get a lot of kit, including: Plane all laser cut, 3 servos, 2 ESC, 4 props, 2 motors, 2 spinners, 1 Y lead, Battery and servo extension leads but it would be worth buying in the UK, but as you say its hard to get them in the UK and most places are out of stock.
  17. Shipping was 30usd but I got hit by import tax. Which I knew I would. So all in all, might be worth waiting till it is stocked in the uk unless you really want one now, like me....
  18. Came with all the bits like servos, speed contollers etc. Looks good. Keep promising myself I won't touch it before I finish the p51........ but...
  19. Valantine day present from myself arrived ..
