  1. Ron Gray's method works for me . Thanks for all the input. KBO SW

  3. Can anyone please explain why when uploading jpegs to the MF Album some of the images are inverted? I've tried rotating the image on the camera or PC before uploading but without success...still upside down? Happy Vaccinating SW
  4. Bought a Ninja 250 with a hope to fly it at our group indoor gatherings ( whenever that happens again!!). Reading the recent posts I'm a tad nervous about getting it out of the box let alone flying the thing! I'll watch and wait for more comments perhaps. SW Great news the Oxford vaccine has just been approved...perhaps a chance for future freedom?
  5. Thanks guys that certainly gives me a guide. I do have an unused 4Max PO2830-1350kv motor but maybe this would be a trifle over powered for the Madcap. Stay healthy SW
  6. Hi Folks I'm soon to commence building a Vic Smeed Madcap (45 " span) from an original plan. I flew this design as a F/F model in the 1950/60s with an ED Bee in the nose. I intend my second attempt to be equipped with simple R/C (3 channel) with electric power replacing the little diesel. The traditional wing is undercambered as so many models were in the F/F designs just post WW2. Has anyone ventured into building this early design for e power as I would appreciate suggestions for a suitable motor? SW
  7. I'd be interested to get some experienced views on the use and effectiveness of the following materials Oracover vs Macgreggor film vs the Hobby King film. I've used Oracover/tex very successfully but it does seem rather pricey against the other products. Is it a case of "you get what you pay for"? Comments please SW
  8. Thanks folks for the helpful comments, I'm relieved to see others have also experienced the same problem. Some of my jpegs are OK then perhaps others are annoyingly inverted. I'll await the new software with interest. Stay well SW
  9. Can someone please indicate how you revert inverted pictures in the stored albums? When transferring some of my jpg's they arrive in the MF album upside down and I cannot fine the 'rotate' facility to correct the image! Must be something simple that I've missed?! In hope SW
  10. I spent 51/2 hours today covering a Tony Nijuiis Sky 40 wing, I think the fuselage took another 5 hours, all done with Oracover (good product to work with). No idea how long the build has taken, several weeks at my pace! Nearly complete now just the controls and servos to fit. SW
  11. Junior 60e built from a plan during 1st 'Lockdown'. Traditional look covering in Oratex (expensive but good to work with! Apologies for unverted picture but I haven't discovered how to rotate it in the album!! SW
  12. Hi Folks The 'covering' articles are all very interesting. I returned to the 21st Century modelling scene a couple of years ago leaving behind the Solar film and dope and tissue era . I've covered a few models now using Oracover & Oratex, a steep learning curve at first and it would take me forever to complete a 60" span model compared to T&D. As time passes and confidence grows I guess that it now takes about 7-8 hours for a simple fuselage and wing. I still marvel at some of the more complex colour schemes that some skilled modellers manage to achieve, i'm not sure that I'll ever attempt that standard of finish, satisfied to keep it simple and neat! Stay healthy SW
  13. Searching widely online for available BB Kits it does appear that the supply has all but dried up! A recent email from SteveWebb (Models) stated that he has been awaiting delivery since early this year with no response from BB. Any news out there please? Stay healthy SW
  14. Please check out Hyperflight for the correct stuff ...bit pricey but it is excellent quality. So difficult to source the right tubing now at an affordable price, it was so easy in the 1980's!! The set up lengths are described in the BARCS Rules, try a Google search? Good Luck SW
  15. I have several Futaba S148B servos in use, very reliable too. The Corona 339MG seems to be a good replacement and a bit lighter & smaller as well. rclife.co.uk or Hobbyking perhaps? KBO SW
  16. Thanks Keith for your response, great photo too. I've messaged you about my Sky 'project'. Too late for flaps this time as the wings are almost finished but I'll probably heed your suggestion if I build a later tail dragger version! like yours. Cheers for now SW
  17. Hello Folks I'm nearing completion of a Tony Nijhuis Sky 40 fuselage built up from a plan. I intend to power this model with a brushless motor. There will be ample room for the LiPo in the compartment area originally designed for the i/c fuel tank. Has anyone completed this model with battery access through the top cowl area? I'm looking for tried and tested ideas about how best to construct an easy to use cover? Stay safe Chris
  18. Hi i have been trying to make contact with Ripmax regarding a guarantee issue but I'm unable to get a response from them by phone or email! Has any one had this problem lately please? regards Chris (SW)
  19. Hi The BB plan in my opinion is now becoming a little outdated with the new generation of Brushless motors available. There is very little difference between the i/c version and the BB e version as the plan simply shows using the i/c engine bearers to 'hang' an electric motor on. I guess that most builders today will come up with their own mods to accommodate modern motors, I certainly did. I suggest that you search the posts for J60 versions/e conversions as there is a lot of useful information available. I built my eJ60 referring to an Aerofred i/c plan and also a BB e plan alongside. The main structure throughout adheres to the 1946 original KK plan. You just need to make room for a Lipo and ESC making sure that you do not overpower the model. 4-Max is a good source of power trains for this model. Good Luck SW Edited By Skippers Walker on 28/08/2020 18:06:28
  20. Has anyone tried and or succeeded in modifying the Chris Foss Phase 6 to electric power please? I have a 1990's model (the 3 channel flat wing version) built as a sloper and would like now to consider an e version. Comments welcome please? SW
  21. Phoenix behaviour: I own the 2400mm version that has so far performed OK, the CG is at the recommended setting. I must admit that I have flown it as a Thermal Motor Glider not as a WOT4, didn't realise that it was meant to be aerobatic? SW
