  1. I take my lipo pack out of the X9D ( and all transmitters ) to charge it using the same charger I use to do flight packs. Many years ago I had a Futaba Challenger NiCad pack go on fire when charging ( on the standard charger ) , it destroyed the transmitter, Since then I have always removed batteries to charge them especially lipos .
  2. I always preferred to make foam models covered with brown paper instead of veneer. Foam and brown paper is very tough, I just stick it on with 50/50 PVA and water they never needed glassing ( apart from a wing bandage to join the wings ), very light and tough.
  3. We have a wide range of balsa model kits available. http://www.miniature-aircraft-factory.co.uk
  4. Still have the aerobic kits now, unlike most of the kits it has changed a bit in construction kind of a mark 2! ( not that the mark 1 wasn't fine the way it was! ) , its just the construction is a little different with the laser cutting as when we did that one years ago and Will could not copy plans to cad, so he just draw new one based on yours using drawing board to take coordinates , so he drew a new one the same shape but different construction , will says he will probably do the original one again as he has now got a massive scanner so can scan them in as he did for most of the others, he has made the original ones as well on an off ,just not laser cut.
  5. Posted by Peter Miller on 23/09/2020 07:27:06: Just to put the record straight..The Small Model Association was my creation in the Engine Bay in Model World. Just built a slightly enlarged version of my PAW 80 powered American Dragon And yes, I still like small models and have just designed a 45" span semi scale high wing light plane fo small electric but would suit an 049 (Got an OK Cub .049.) I am getting my prints and a PDF done this very morning Edited By Peter Miller on 23/09/2020 07:29:02 We still have sheets of the stickers that Peter Kent used in the kits from when we took over `The Miniature Aircraft Factory` Peter Kent used to put them in the kits, the ones with a magnifying glass over a small I was told you created these in the first place? Lol...Here already!, Well I am anyway, I think Will is as well he just doesn't say anything, I was sent a link! 7. It should work fine if it is still liquid , but if it has been frozen ( bellow 8C ) it can turn to a bottle of lumps in water occasionally . if it has been in bright light it can darken but still works the same.
  8. Posted by kc on 03/07/2020 19:50:08: Bob said " The Superphatic that I've got dries very rubbery, it is a FiveStar branded one " The glue I used is marked Super'Phatic! and is the stuff made by Deluxe Materials and is probably a trademark so whatever Bob used is not the same stuff. Of course it could be very similar or it might not. Five Star has something called Hingeite which I thought would be similar, but I couldn't get on with it - perhaps I didn't use it correctly or perhaps it went off in storage. So if anyone who uses Super'Phatic can advise us how they get on with it and whether it stores well for a year or more then I would be pleased to hear. I am reluctant to use the Hingeite on hinges either until I know it works well. Superphatic by deluxe is very hard , similar to a waterbased acrylic varnish, some people like it some don't, I don't like the deluxe one or the Five Star one we sell, I find neither wick in well enough and prefer to use a real aliphatic resin (used like a pva...the thick glue ) or a wicking thin cyano if wicking is required.  The FiveStar products one superAliphatic was launched around the same time but is completely different base, it is based on a very hard waterbased self curing synthetic rubber made with an adhesive base produced by the worlds largest chemical company from Germany ( it sets at a very low water loss but once water leaves it cures to a very high strength, people think it has set once it `coagulates` but 95% of the curing is still to go, it is rubbery until it sets fully ). Many people like our one as it sands better and is stronger but there is a knack to using it. Neither SuperAliphatic super aliphatic or the other one ( something like active aliphatic ) are really related to a real aliphatic resin glue like `aliphatic resin ` or titebond other than they are a glue.... `real` aliphatic resins do not wick into joints, you use than just like a pva glue Derek hardman from solarfilm ( I think it was him...) once told people how to make a substiture for superphatic in an aeromodeller article by adding methanol and water to pva glue... The hingeite is totally different chemical again , its a waterbased emulsion but of a diffrenet resin and different plastic, , its not wicking needs to be applied into the slots just like the pacer hinge glue, designed to bond to almost aby surface, very similar to a canopy glue but harder to give higher tensile strength due to smaller bonding area   Edited By Gervaise Vernon Retail manager StarLoc on 03/07/2020 21:36:48 Edited By Gervaise Vernon Retail manager StarLoc on 03/07/2020 21:37:50
  9. I dont use this type of laser ours is a co2 one but , Are you joining the lines together to form one line in the cad pack you are using, the line type can cause problems spline or non spline curves, one doesn't cut it cuts in stages, depending on the speed it can power up you can with some led lasers get gaps. The burning, unless you cut at very low power a few times you will burn the wood, cut at high power as the power goes up if you hit softer parts of the wood it will suddenly flame up and set the piece on fire, The cure is `air assist` to run a tube to point at the cutting dot and blow air down it we have 50psi from a big oilless compressor , we disabled the fancy air assist nozzle that our co2 lasers have as ithey are not as good, we blow down a piece of 2mm id nylon tube and get no flames, The air also removes dust from in the cut allowing you to cut faster and deeper in one pass as you remove the dust that otherwise blocks the laser as you cut.

I don’t think it’s just HK that’s affected overseas . Deliveries would be very unpredictable for any company outside the uk . They won’t want to send deliveries out that they could lose. It would end up their loss not the recipient. Not a chance for delivery from us in Bulgaria!, They have declared a state of emergency, so no post, curfew from 7pm to 5am, The rest of the time we can only only go out to do a food shop, go to certain types of job , or walk a dog a limited amount. Email passwords are in the factory, shop passwords in the factory, We cant go in the factory, we are waiting for an official to take us.to the factory as it is in another district even though just down the road and police have road blocks.... They were supposed to appear to take us on Thursday last week. The only contacts we have are forums, facebook or ebay massages We have things stuck in the post all over the place we have posted and things to be delivered to us, even a saw for balsa strip I bought from the guy who used to own Flair , its stuck in a workshop in the UK to be collected and all van drivers are quarantined , everyone is the same everywhere. Myself I am not working, other than emails etc, we are not allowed in the factories Will ( the boss! ) loves not going into work!.... as he never goes out anyway!, apart from walking his 8 dogs, he has a lot of workshops in the garden so is making new models and testing them in his field at the back of the house, also working on new glues in the lab he has at home and building a new bottle filling machine! We have just had our lockdown extended this morning , now lasting until the 13th of May.
  11. Cosford is cancelled, on the LMA facebook page, post from 29th Feb 2020 from facebbok> Cosford cancellation The LMA committee and the Cosford Museum have today decided due to the latest Government forecasts that we have a duty of care to our members and the Public who attend our shows,so have taken the decision to CANCEL the Cosford model show for 2020----the decision wasn't taken lightly and we hope to see you all in 2021 Dave Johnson
  12. Getting an answer from Will on boking shows is an interesting question , he goes to them as he wont trust anyone else to go . I may be going as well but not unless he does and I may have to stay to do the internet here. At the minute he says he is planning on booking some , which ones I don't know , he says he is bored with indoor ones this year , last year it was no outdoor ones. At a guess most probably the BMFA nationals at least next year , but he does say he is thinking of doing more. No chance of going to the London show. We used to go every year. But here in Bulgaria it snows about a week before and there is no way to get out with the 10 to 15 foot snow drifts ( The town name is translates to English as ` Windy ` and it is so all the snow drifts to here Another problem with the London show is with packing stock into the show , its a dreadful set up!, we can either have low stock using a car and wait for ages to get in or we can use our 27ton lorry that doesn't fit in and pull pallets up the hill.     Edited By Gervaise Vernon Retail manager StarLoc on 29/11/2019 12:52:21
  13. I have the tracking number ( as added to PayPal ) found from a `real name` Ron? Dispatch was delayed slightly due to a national holiday for the 30th year from the fall of communism celebrations, this should have been a day holiday but the lady in the post office took about a week before she reopened it.. Your order ( presuming I have the right one! ) is in Heathrow customs since the 25th and it takes a few days after this for delivery depending on Royal Mail .I would guess tomorrow for delivery. Sorry about the delays with the posting. Tracking number is ri283474245bg
  14. I am the manager of the mail order part of Five Star / StarLoc adhesives Have you got the order number so I can check it?, I have just looked and can find no emails I have missed. All orders are posted within 7 days, usually much quicker 7 at longest it should be there by now ( depending on the country ) . All orders are sent with tracking, tracking is entered into paypal, day of dispatch, we send all by `priority tracked` from Bulgaria but post can be slow sometimes. Most times post is fairly quick. All emails are answered to the email address ( contact @ hobbylines.eu ) , I do all the retail sites as well as the ebay sites . I can not find any I have missed but some are removed by the email provider.
