  1. Wow rapid electronics, I know your very good, you have been for years, but this is beyond !! Really well done ! I need to order some voltage regs and serviceall contact cleaner/ lube, mail order and pay Pal, or order and pay via phone and card...
  2. Lol ? I already have house chores, washing up being one of them. She cooks, I wash up. That's the same for every married couple ? Anyways, still researching/looking for a milling machine which must be able to accommodate the valve guide job.
  3. Will have to measure up, pick up only from Marlborough, a good hike from north Wales but price is good I think....thanks for the heads up..
  4. Thanks guys, much appreciated, never got anything from hobby king, time to become a customer, just for film for now, must stay focused, just want covering material. I'm gunna have to register with them to see video... Anything else needed to use that film like balsa lock it similar ? Any pitfalls using HK film or is it as easy as solar film ?
  5. Richard, what film from hobby king would that be please ?
  6. I didn't participate as I was not a member in 2020. I didn't even realise there was a magazine, there wasn't back in the 80's, 90's. I am sure I would have said, if asked, I would read it from cover to cover.
  7. In New Zealand I think, you have to vote, you don't have to in this country..... Take that the right way, apply what you glean...we won't get fooled again, good song ! Every time I click the reply button this post comes up ?? Sorry, though it was New Zealand, it's not, it's Australia ( and Belgium apparently ), please don't take offence, a simple mistake is all... In this country you don't have to vote. Someone was mentioning about a vote/ poll about bmfa mag... Hard copy for me please, no land line, no internet, doing this on stand alone internet phone. Paper mag, no batteries needed etc.. If I had to pay say £1 extra to get a hard copy for the whole year, then so be it. Cover price in bmfa mag is £1.25...per copy I suspect people would buy one copy....then not bother. Keep it a hard copy and free to members please. An opt out of a hard copy with a membership discount would mean the hard copy would die...unless the mag is produced and funded by advertising... How many bmfa members are there now ? Every member will see and advert, will they buy because of it ? I hate all the adverts popping up all the time when using internet. The internet is great at advertising, they pop up in milliseconds, yet you wait ages for the internet content you waiting for/ want to see... But that's for a different thread...
  8. Puzzle ? DOH, yes I understand now ! ? Ed, please could you post a picture of your chosen machine and info so I can research your choice please. Much appreciated. My only real option is a bench mounted unit. Thanks.
  9. 6mm bolt, 3mm screw remains...inch square 18 gauge "washer"...
  10. Wm18, £2k,academic for me whether it's plus vat, not checked. Would need new shed to house that, meaning new house, meaning a lottery winner needed ! Your machine, CNC ? Nice anyway. I will struggle on with the lathes...listening to classic FM... Need a stout bit of angle iron to mount carb, then mount in chuck, 4 jaw so can centralise dead on. No room for error. Will also have to get a 2, and 4mm left hand drill else screw remains could end up being driven to the bottom of the hole. Great risk of lh drill breaking if screw decides to unscrew. Used end mill to remove the deeply recess float chamber screw, worked a treat with pillar drill. Just this last troublesome screw to sort out on the carbs. Superdreams, nightmares more like. Sorry about language...
  11. That 70 proxxon would easily do the first job, a 3mm screw sheared off ( not by me ) in a "tower" in a bike carb, quite recessed, so mig method ( 3 others removed, made washer to protect carb, weld washer to proud remains, weld tapered bolt to washer, as much heat as I dare, patience patience patience and a few please god's, they came out, well corroded in which is why they sheared ) not an option. Machine not big enough to take a cylinder head ( twin 4t ) to machine a butchered ( again not by me ) valve guide so I can make driver/extracted. Other milling jobs on a ( I think ) model De Winston stationery steam engine, ( De Winston, caernarfon, similar engine in Glyn Llifon, caernarfon area, fed dibna ). Carb job has no room what so ever for any inaccuracy... I can dream, which is ironic as the bike is a wet one, 400cc. I will keep researching. If allowed we may be going Guildford way this summer, seen a Warco sign on that route, if still no mill, will call in. Anyone like some RC boats, pm me.
  12. Thanks robin, wilco....suspect I'm gunna need 5 jam jars !
  13. Correction, proxxon ad seen in rcme ( I haven't read that from cover to cover yet either ) mag, doh !
  14. My birthday is in a few months... In the past I have had access to machine shop equipment. I have a lathe ( two actually ) but not a milling machine. I have lots of jobs that would be easy on a milling machine... Bmfa mag advert ( and threads on here ) has relit that fire and the milling jam jar is filling, but slowly. Proxxon milling machines, anyone on here using one and are they any good ? I only need to do light duty stuff, but with steel/cast iron/brass/bronze, as well as Ali. Thanks
  15. Had email saying engine seminar early February... I haven't read bmfa mag from cover to cover yet, but info may be in it too. Hopefully an electric motor seminar and battery technology seminar to come ? Advances in lithium polymer batteries are on the way folks... A good subject for the bmfa mag ?

  17. Could you post 4 views please, front, left side, back and right side please... Nice pictures of failed rods, for what ever reason. BMW bikes, black museum, s shaped rod... Email saito, see what they say ?
  18. Tempting fate there jon...mishaps tend to run in three's...
  19. Just engines possibly, I am sure you will be able to source a new carb...
  20. Swarf... Had a new magnum gp40 that had glass beads inside and outside...not good. I reported it to the supplier and heard nothing for about a month... I stripped cleaned reassembled and run, I still have that engine which is a bit worn after many gallons of fuel having run thru it, it still runs well. Then, a new engine arrived by post, guess what, that was covered in glass beads also... Deaf ears...or blind eyes. Inform saito to see what they say/think/do...
  21. Wwww, that is quite deep and not good. Get in touch with Saito... If the rod fails ( a very highly probable failure point indeed ) then the engine will be wrecked/scrap. Not good quality control Mr.Saito ! I wonder what Jon from laser reckons, bet he says that scrap.

  23. Things can always be better. We are all different, some needing help more than others. I learn something new every day... Locked down or restricted "freedom" as well as transport costs means I am relatively isolated, so the mag is usefull and informative, for me.
  24. Mmm, better than nothing... Not everyone has a laptop or PC to view bmfa or here for that matter. Using an internet phone ( no Landline or laptop/pc ) with a small screen and sometimes ludicrous predictive text, is a pita. At least the bmfa mag keeps me reasonably ( although two months plus old) up to date. Bmfa emails also keep me informed. The mag shows reasonably informative stuff and what's going on. For a tyro there are bmfa info sheets and booklets online. I print off bmfa stuff I consider needed and keep in my bmfa dedicated file. For modelmaking stuff and techniques, there are several internet sites and forums, this place being one of them. Ditto for help, advise and "look what I'm making, flying, crashed ", this place is good. Long live bmfa and mag. Stay safe out there, safe flying is no accident. Ps, it doesn't need batteries or internet.
  25. There is a UK shop agent for Enya, in Kent ? from memory. They didn't have parts for the 06, that's why I contacted ken in Japan. Can't remember the name of the shop or company....
