  1. Not being unfair on Jon at all...........I have all the respect in the world for him. He managed to keep Lasr in the game for years after Neil retired, and in today's hobby of modelers buying eveything from china that's quite a feat. The development of the non Boxers (that's what was developed) was surely what the owner wanted. But keep in mind that a Boxer is a smooth running twin with little to know vibration. A few fellows over here received a few of the twins and quite frankly weren't impressed with the vibration levels. That alone called off a lot of interest. The V twins are smoother. Had the opposed twins been Boxer design they would have been in huge demand. Especially at the price they were listed for. I'm saying that Laser closing down was inevitable, but the way parts are cut off fom us modelers around the world is just plain disrespectful to put it nicely. Who wants to put in a 1,000 hours of building and finishing a scale plane that is built around an engine that has no support is one thing, but to not have access to the parts if needed is just wrong. Engines for scale planes need not be perfect, but being able to service the engine is important when building scale. We can't just hack up and rebalance a scale model like this because a 10 dollar part is unobtainable.
  2. It's a shame that Laser went belly up. I thought they did quite well when they made the singles and V twins that Neil designed. Perhaps all the money spent on the non boxer twins depleted all the capitol and the owner decided it wasn't worth the effort to keep a sinking ship afloat. To turn the parts supply over to a seller that won't help anyone outside the UK is even more of an insult to others who were loyal to Laser around the world. Best I guess I can do is try to correspond with MSL and get the spring size needed............ I do have a Neil Tidey built 200 V I can cannibalize if needed should my Jon H built 80 break a spring.....:)) The 200 was a lucky buy for $200.00
  3. LOL I was born in Cirencester (1955).............that should count for somethingšŸ˜
  4. hi Doug answered your PM sorry for the late reply
  5. I would love to know how we in the US can get any parts for the Laser engines we have bought. MSL does not ship to the US or any other country.
  6. found a spare Mag V in my ST parts.
  7. there is a carb on ebay right now...............The seller is highly reputable. U could message him and he may have parts too. I have bought parts from him that were impossible to find a time or two. https://www.ebay.com/itm/145676523725?itmmeta=01HSY50FGYCZ2M636SAANQK1PD&hash=item21eaff58cd:g:zW8AAOSwYxxl-bFU&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA8ANo%2Bx3JEDZj1%2FA06yaHCIa9WDD6OUcZrqDtuomYSTRPWiKIItrZBeZBkPjQJlDTypFrmr6O1geDihL3WN5%2B6iNXkDgmBKFJHtw31lmY9%2B84hi2rTpdvvec88aIqDKWAul8besr%2B8gFbA4iKUGObh3271RICj1f%2F8%2F4np31gzaletP9m50FJHRafFTrFVxyzbS8W1%2BkmWFVox%2Bu1S%2BqXymka5JfOiaA8ZDQMywATb7vsMzQ0ByCj10eox0YUMm7RVGmqxdy%2BVRSe88%2Bnj5c8zTNaDenJe7nAfs82Ask5SpOoyGzz9AgJf3cqNJ%2F8mjJtdw%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR8T4gcXPYw
  8. Really bummed to read this. Jon put so much time and effort to take Laser into the next great phase of engine selections. Hope the future is a Golden path for you Jon.
  9. Wow Jon I have 2 ASP 70's and a 90 that are in a box with congealed castor that someone gave me to clean up. Then said to heck with them as they bought two Laser 70's over a year ago. too bad we're on the wrong side of the pond or else I's give them to you. regards Mike
  10. We use this Model ( III) in our Free Flight nostalgia events. Once it's worked over by our guru over here it pulls like a monster. It's one of OS's best during the production time. Goes for mint price too.
  11. No John, no technical questions I learned all I have about his design back in 2007-9 from Neil. This is an entirely differnt inquiry and one that only Neil can approve.
  12. Gd morning from the US, Is there any contact info for Neil Tidey? I use to chat with Neil from time to time back in the early 2000's. Neil was always the nicest modeler to talk to about his Laser design and always took care of customers. Thx Mike
  13. Well I am simply amazed at the antics on your guys side of the pond. I always thought it was just here in the US of A that we have this type of nonsense. As a kid growing up here I was always affiliated with real modelers that were gentleman and honorable..............course from the 60's to now things have changed. This topic is really interesting too in that all of you who have posted here would be trusted.................I guess we're just a dwindling group. Really sorry to here the opening reports. My buying experience as of late with Jon has been so pleasant, it really makes me wish I lived there again. Thermals, Mike
