  1. I'm a big fan of HK and have considered ordering several of the models now that they're open over here. As you say, there are some interesting examples. However, if I have to go elsewhere for servos, motors, batteries and ESCs, I'll be paying extra for postage when I'd expect it to be free when shipped with a large model from HK. I've added my e-mail address to the new items page so I'll now be able to stop looking al lthe time
  2. If you follow Frank's advice, you'd also have two free receivers to increase your funds.
  3. Scott did recently say in the RCG HK Lancaster thread 'a bit suprised (sic) ourselves at it opening today, most of the stock has not been entered into the system yet! ' so hopefully there will be more on there soon. Edited By NigelH on 09/07/2012 21:36:50
  4. Posted by Alan Randall on 09/07/2012 20:09:35: I came very close to buying one from Al's at Wings & Wheels. After a lot of heart searching I decided that as I had the Rv9 I would give it a pass. I also like HH stuff. I am currently putting together the Hanger 9 Corsair 50 with a power 46 motor. I bought mines from Als.
  5. Posted by Tom Wright 2 on 09/07/2012 19:51:59: Nigel Thanks for the heads up.........I ordered one . Tom. Sorry for spending your money Tom It's a nice model. I hiope that you're pleased with it. I also bought their scale pilots but they're quite dear.
  6. I know what you mean. Just to have flown it Have your high and low rates adjusted accordingly for next time. Clear sky. Little wind. Plenty of space. It should do nicely.   Edited By David Ashby - RCME on 10/07/2012 08:39:49
  7. I saw it at Waddington the other day. That's one serious machine. The pilot was doing high alpha flying and banking and yanking around. Tons of noise and that glow from the back added in to make it a great show.
  8. Seriously, about half an hour ago, it was blisteringly fast for a couple of minutes. And then it wasn't.
  9. You didn't say how it flew. I'd imagine that it flew very well ?   Edited By David Ashby - RCME on 10/07/2012 08:39:20
  10. Tom / Alan I may well be Horizon's biggest fan. They make great models and I've owned many of them. Everything in my hangar is from them. As you say though, you can get very reasonable 46 size and above models for the same price from other vendors. There is a real E-Flite bargain out there at the moment though. A HH guy said on RCG that it had a poor following (and this has been discounted for, I'd say, at least a year) but it actually flies very nicely and it's a 'proper' model.
  11. I wouldn't call it that but I don't spend more than ten minutes reading it. The site has been poor for a long time now and they really did ought to have a look at it. As mentioned above, it could be something that's not difficult to fix.
  12. A decent model but one of those from E-Flite that came in at more than seems reasaonable. £100 would be about right. Their SU-26M is another that came in at about £135 when most of their balsa models are about £100 or less.
  13. Posted by Simon B on 09/07/2012 09:54:36: They're not selling much at the moment...Not going to entice me in until they start doing some batteries for starters! Edited By Simon B on 09/07/2012 10:10:55 Yes, I've been waiting for them to open so that I could order some. I've been eagerly waiting but now, a pretty poor show from HK. There should have been a whole lot more in stock. Not a single accessory, for example. No receivers, batteries, cables, fittings, etc.

  15. Alan, maybe, but I don't that option will be there in the model in question here. Also, trainers tend to have flat-bottomed wings which will not be the case here either.
  16. I wonder why a beginner was told to buy an agile and unforgiving model that isn't a high wing trainer, which would sort itself out when the pilot gets into trouble.
  17. Although I didn't do it to mine, RCG people were adding struts between the stabs to stop the horizontal ones from breaking off. If you're pushing the model to the limits, it's worth bearing in mind. It's not hard to imagine though that some people simply don't know how to remove the covering film without also cutting into the wood
  18. Posted by Robin Kearney on 07/07/2012 22:08:39: . My guess is either a slow SQL query, missing index or not enough query read cache on the underlying DB r. Quite. Now that we're getting into the detailed stuff, that's what I was saying with a colleague who also frequents the site and knows about SQL servers, etc.
  19. Indeed. On several occasions, I've mentioned my IT skills on the subs form and suggested that I could help with the web site. Have you noticed that at busy times, you tend to see the classifieds 'header' text appear long before the adverts themselves ? It looks like the system struggles to pull the advert data from storage (probably cassette tape by the look of things).
  20. Same here. Probably the worst site that I visit. from a performance perspective.
  21. CCL = good Linux for the average user <> good Using the words 'doze', 'windoze' and 'hate' = biaised and uninformed
  22. I've bought them several times from that supplier and they're cheaper than the well known online retailer that I would normally have used.. While heat-shrink is also ok, you'd have to cut it to get it off and you then risk cutting the cable.
  23. E-Flite says that you can do 670 watts on a four cell with a 13x8
