  1. http://www.ripmax.com/insertDW.asp crap website but found this by googling.... sort it our ripmax.....
  2. Ive got the twister with an os46la.  Lovely!!
  3. Brian, Good luck!! Mine just never flew, partly as the sc just didnt like running inverted and partly because she weighed close to 5 llbs once balanced.
  4. edward, mine is the jp tiger moth . I measured the section incorrectly. Its 150mm wide.
  5. whats your power source? electric or ic?
  6. no its the same model but my measurements!!  Just checked the instructions and it quotes cg as being 110-115mm back from LE.
  7. well I rebalanced her at the rear of the top wing centre section. ( Not sure how you got your to balance 150 mm back as the centre section is only 130mm wide!!!!  My instructions state 110-115mm back from LE., hence all the lead up front to do so.) Shed a heap of weight and had to stuff the battery back a bit. Take off was better, climbout steady but laboured and shallow, but as soon as I reduced power she just went into a nose down angle and piled in. Very odd. I now know that the little sc 30 just doesnt like being inverted which didnt help. Jus not enough power. Thats £120 gone, but a big learning curve consdiering this was my first artf. Ill stick to building instead !! COULD RCME HELP OUT HERE ?
  8. edward, interesting as I suspect my cg may be very nose heavy. I used there cg location (110-115mm back from LE at centre) . Ill rebalance mine the same as you to see if it helps. Mind you, you had the abillity to use a lipo to balance yours. I cant. I suspect this model was always intended for electric and not glow. At best I might shave 200g off loosing the lead up front but she still comes out a 4.5llbs!!
  9. A nice vintage is the order of the day!!  5cc is only a 30 size four stroke, and given its age we must allow a bit for that. Go for a nice junior 60 from Ben Buckle.. ahh summer days......  you may want to speak to Just engines for a smaller cdi ignition unit (!! )that is designed for this type of engine. About £45 and runs off a 6v pack.
  10. Andy, Ive got the same model fitted with an sc30 and exactly as you experienced, it was awful to fly. Despite me keeping things light as hell, she came out at 4.5llbs not the 3.5 claimed and just would not fly. A real shame. Ive written to JP to ask for comments as its clearly nothing I have done. Depending on the response, I may ask RCME to help me. £120 is lot of money for a dud model!! I had to add a lot of lead to balance her , so you may need to do the same. Mine flew nose DOWN despite my balance being level. I needed full up to fly and she only managed a circuit before " landing" in the gorse.  A very poor model.
  11. spot on birdy.  I think I have come to the same conclusion.
  12. Its a 1/4 scale pup. Its a trait of these aircraft. At 1/4 throttle, I am full scale speed and she climbs like mad. The full size flew with full down elevator when at  full power!!! As opposed to altering the empanage or incidence, I have been advised to mix throttle and elevator to counteract the climbing tendancies this type of model has.
  13. Any help apprecaited. I am having problems getting my 6exa to mix throttle and elevator on a programmable mix . No matter how I try, as I programme in the required amount of movement I want on the slave elevator servo ( in my case 25%), the system seems not to recognise that I only want movement of the elevator in one axis. In my case I want only down elevator as the throttle advances. What I find happens is as I programme in the 25% . the elevator servo is slowly moving to apply up elevator. I assume it wants to ensure my 25% is split across both up and down elevator. How the hell can I correct this!!!<!-- / message --><!-- controls -->
  14. Why on earth to people consider the a cert scheme , the nanny state? Sorry but the link is pretty thin to say the least.   Im entirely self taught but also responsible for site safety at a public site. So many begineers put themselves and others at risk by simply not having a clue how to start, control or fly a model and neec some kind of structured programme to follow to learn. Following the BMFA guidelines is a good idea to ensure you dont end up hurting someone. A  good club will make you feel quite welcome and help you, not stop you enjoying the hobby.
  15. Put it this way, I just bought an asp 120 fs and it started FIRST flick after priming. Ran an 1/4 throttle for a whole tank and didnt misfire once. I also own a 52 and 70fs and both are my best running engines, even up there with an os48 and 2 rcv,s. Bloody superb.
  16. Our officionado on vintage insists on taking off at minimal flying power using an knackered old diesel going parp, pppaaaarp, parp parrrrrpp, parppp, BANG, Splutter, parrrp, circle endlessly round the airfield gradually gaining height until so bleedin high, either his eyes fail and he cant see it or we remind him hes actually higher than the lower flying real aircraft approaching southampton airport and hence on radar. I remember doing a loop flying my red zephyr and being told to " take it easy".
  17. my mistake. Peter was the test pilot back in the olde days and still has the original model in pristine condition. Tissue covered with sewn hinges. My experience with vintage is that the original models were always minimally powered and certainly couldnt climb steeply, loop or attack a wind greater than 2 mph. I watch the old guard launch diesel powered models and see them take an age to reach a safe altitude before running out of fuel. Me, its a quick blat of a nice 52fs and Im able to throttle back to tickover at a safe height.
  18. asp 52 fs from just engines for £75 p and p free. Bargaintastic.....
  19. Im currently replacing an engine on my big old flair hannibal and can use a prefered engine if I lower the trust line by 10mm. Is this a problem or am I going to create a whole heap of problems? I would think it wont have any impact at all?
  20. The idle screw does wobble loose at times, so a blob of something sticky is advised. Once its set it runs fine. I think too many people try and get a low reliable tickover from very new engines when you need to bed them in for hours. My rcv 90 ( for sale !) improved hugely after 4 hours and now holds a " count the spins" rpm. I always accepted the engine was a cheapo and it was never going to be a saito or os. Mind you my sc 70 fs is perfect.
  21. myron, excellent!!! YOUR A STAR!!! Its the idle needle thats causing me grief as I cant adjust it whilst the engine is running due to its location and finger/prop issues. I think the settings I ended up with last night are the same, but trust me when I say DONT touch th idle needle as it is sooo sensitive. You will be able to get you main needle down to 1.5 - 1.75 turns out and boy does it go!!! The only problem I am having is occassionally it dies if I open the throttle quickly.
  22. holy crap thats nothing to do with fuel!!! Even I can see there is something very very wrong with the construction of that rcv. Come on rcv, you know this is not right.
  23. ooh ive just dribbled on my keyboard.......
  24. my trials in electric flight has been shot down before it even got airborne!!! Thanks for the warning!!!
  25. er not sure I follow you jetsome? Mid range smoothness in my experience requires a leaner mix than full power, only a few clicks but its the differnce between popping and smoooooth.
