  1. Four of us at the Sluice for a bit of light wind sloping. Enrico, Wor'Keith, PatMac and me. 10 MPH slightly off the hill. Still, was good fun and a decent chat on a bright but chilly afternoon.  Missing was one Ken Anderson. Last seen with a thumbprint on his head and a pinny round his waistEdited By Andy Freeman on 22/02/2010 19:10:29
  2. Posted by enrico on 21/02/2010 16:20:05: Been up the coast today and allmost got snowed in! ,but found a range of sanddunes that you could allmost fall off bothsides. Wind forcast tomorrow is east so if  im not snowed in will give it a go. Enrico, there was some fair old snow showers this afternoon. Must have been a bit dodgy getting down that track!!! Did you think i was kidding you on about the snow???
  3. I subscribed to RCM&E about a year ago. One of the main reasons was the "on the edge" column. I liked being introduced to models that I had not seen on the local slopes round here. Something to wish for and sometimes something a bit away from the norm.  Having said that I really did not like the last article. Looking at the back issues it seems Mr E does get a a bit aggravated at times in the slope column compared to the other stuff he writes. Heart on the sleeve at times?  Please can we return to normal offerings....
  4. Posted by Ross Pert on 11/02/2010 17:58:35: "Posted by Peewhit on 10/02/2010 22:50:47: The Yorkshire weather is no better Ross. The elevator travel does need to be limited as opposed to the ailerons which  need to be "full".  It depends upon which Tx you have. I use a Spektrum DX7, and you need to limit the aileron throws using the dual rate function.  What Tx do you have?  "  Futaba 6EX 2.4GHz, should do the mixing. I don't think it will be dual rates that will limit  the elevator though, it must be in there under one of the mixes to restrict elevator but keep aileron throws full when together.  I'll worry iabout it when I get there. Like I said, won't get to build this soon, off to Val D'isere, different kind of sloping!  I think you are going to be looking for "end point adjust" to tame the elevator down. Thats what its called on my Futaba T9CP anyway. I think its a fair bet its called the same on your set. Hopefully someone with the same set can confirm this.
  5. Reluctant to post anything other than a question of the sloping section these days in case i fall foul of one the RCM&E columnist rants.  But as i do have a fusion 46 and found the control surface movements in the instructions a good starting point I would say you might do worse than following those to begin with.  For me, those movements, were fine to begin with but I think i have a bit more aileron and a good bit less elevator now.  Caveats: I am not the most skilled stick twiddler, I have only been sloping 2 years, my fusion is a bit heavy than recommended at 31 oz and seemingly you should never take advise from an internet forum.Although with out this forum I would have been stuck many, many times........
  6. Just bought a new keyboard to go with my new "flying moniker". Click here
  7. Ken, was a very strange day indeed.  I reckon between me and Chief Stoker Tread (the lad with the only Phase 6 that HAD a periscope on channel 5)  we might be better of with model submarines.....  To add insult to injury when i went for the inquest with a knife i manages to cut through the antenna about 5mm from the reciever...  Arrrghhhhh!!!!  Able Seaman Freeman   Edited By Andy Freeman on 09/02/2010 19:37:15
  8. That Sinclair ZX81 you installed as a Server has given up the ghost. Please get a proper one............
  9. Craig, It does indeed look like it might be a minefield on the switch front.  I had everything set up including, i thought, CROW.  All I needed to do was to press switch A into the down position to activate it. Nowhere does it tell you that in the menu or, as far as I could see, in the manual. Just need a nice day for the maiden now,,,,,,
  10. I guess what you are driving at is making a simple composite structure from the outside in.  The foam by itself is not going to have any structural integrity but filling a hollow structure may well introduce some beneficial properties.  Of course a diagram or fuller description might help here.
  11. Ken, CROW is working all i need is some kind person to give me some control throws and then the "laughing assassin" can maiden it for me.....
  12. Gentlemen, we now have CROW braking. It was not that obvious to get it working though. The gist of it is: CROW is permanently assigned to switch A.. You need to have switch A down for it to work even in you have set up everything else. If anyone needs a more thorough description please ask........  Now all i need are the control throws for a "ruby".... can anyone help?
  13. Posted by ken anderson. on 31/01/2010 19:35:36: andy-i notice you had the 'laughing asassin' with you.....did he have his sythe and black cloak with him............  ..                       grim reaper anderson........ Funnily enough he did manage to damage my Talon. In his defence I did ask him to try it for me and things would have been much, much worse if i had been at the sticks.  That all moving v tail is tricky to guess the right mounts of movment and the centre point too. Hopefully third time lucky as i fixed it last night..
  14. Just back from a quick snowy slope session with Enrico and John. Wind meter claind -19 with wind chill on the edge. Brrrrr.... Bad day for me Carried three to the top and carried all 3 down in various states of disrepair. Pulled the wing retaining plate out of the impluse and had a midair with the 31ox fusion. Nothing structural but the covering film split. (sorry about the damage to the Moth John).  Nothing that can't be cured in short order though once i get to the shops for some Cyano and film.....
  15. Sorry no advise but i would love to see some pictures as you go to help me visualise how to do this......
  16. Doug, where in PeterHEED do you fly? Have wifes relatives up there and would love somewhere to pop along to while the women talk....
  17. Lookiing good for the same spot over the next few days. Give me a ring if you are going up!!!!! Been too long since i got a decent fly............
  18. Was that "my " mini blade you stacked there Ken? Shame that......
  19. Do you know. I went to my first ever indoor meet two weeks ago. My seven year old took the Silverlit sopwith we got for subscribing. All he has talked about since are the little Helicopters we saw. The Shockies were of no interest to him at all.  Start a young boy along the path?????????
  20. Just had a trip out to the garage and stumbled over this project again. It is a case now of finish it or bin it.... I think i shall try to finish it... Have just spent 2 hours picking off the remaining Profilm. what a tedious task that is.  Anyway, sat here staring at it and have got an unnatural urge to try and glass the fuselage. Too cold for epoxy at this time of year and spilling that in the house would leave me looking for lodgings.  Question 1... does Poly-C smell as it cures???? Question 2 can it be applied to glass over open structures without sagging? (open being the holes inserted into the fuselage sides earlier in the thread? Or are there any better suggestions..  Thanks in advance, Andy Edited By Andy Freeman on 13/01/2010 22:15:39
  21. Scott are things you are looking to be bringing n to the Country?
  22. Posted by ken anderson. on 10/01/2010 20:57:20: message for all-years ago when i was a milkman and this weather used to do us all in--a lot of the older lad's used to wear a pair of women's tight's...they used to swear by them for keeping warm etc...........you read it here first........    prob the last post for me ken anderson......... Might be the last post, but you will allways be known as 15 Denier Ken from now on...
  23. Ken, just send it up here! Save you all the hassle.........
  24. Ken, I rekon its all based on the potential use of the model. Combat types dont seem to specify it but more performance orientated ones do.  I think that is the basis of it and will take a lot of persuasion to change my mind. Some one told me that Balsaloc can be used in the same way without as much mess and hassle. Did the FART this way (foam Jart) and seemed to work nicely....  Pleased to be able to offer some help to Uncle Ken after all this time. Even though he hasnt given me an "A" Cert yet....
