  1. Im still waiting for the solarlac paint to arrive. All the servos are fitted and working well. I have used Futaba 3001s all round including 1 on the ailerons. The bell crank system seems to work well with hardly any slop. Im still not decided on the muffler routing but have picked up a couple of 8mm copper fittings which i think i can use to come up with a system. Couple more bits of advice if i may,im running the 45 saito and cant really figure out the size of the standard fuel tank. Has anybody who has this model, know the size? Im just wondering what sort of flight times i might get with this engine/tank set up. Also,i have read a couple of posts suggesting the recommended CoG of 100mm is not right, saying it makes the model very tail heavy, Can anybody with experience of flying this bipe give me there thoughts on this issue?
  2. Still not figured the best way to root the muffler. Any ideas much appreciated.
  3. I have fitted a second hand Saito 45. I know its at the bottom end of the recommended engines but it runs really well and i thought i would give it a go. As you can see from the pics, the muffler lines up well with the scale exhaust tube on the side of the fuse.Would connecting the muffler to this pipe, have any adverse effect on the running of the Saito? It looks like it has been set up this way in the past as the pipe is hollow. Also,if i used this pipe, what would be the best way to connect the muffler to the tube? Edited By flyeruk on 09/08/2014 20:34:26

  6. How about Solarlac? They have in in antique which looks like the correct colour.
  7. I can assure you that i wont be throwing it around like a pitts lol. I saw a puppeteer a few weeks ago, pottering around the sky and it looked fantastic so just had to get a ww1 bipe. The se5a also sits nicely in the back of the car fully rigged.Edited By flyeruk on 06/08/2014 08:48:56
  8. I will keep you posted and add some pictures as i go.
  9. Im also thinking along the lines of a Saito 45 or sc 52 fs. It was fitted with an os 2 stroke and think it deserves a nice 4 stroke.
  10. Thanks for the quick reply. Thats good to know regarding the bellcranks. What would you advise regarding a servo for the ailerons?

  12. I have just purchased a second hand Flair se5a and was hoping for a bit of advice The airframe is in pretty good condition and so is the covering. Im guessing its Solartex. The wings have been covered, top and bottom all the same colour. From looking at pictures on the net,i can see that the underside of the wings are a lighter colour. I dont want to recover the wings so would it be possible to paint the undersides with solartex colours?. Also, the ailerons are configured with the bell crank system. There is no servo at present. The linkages seem very good with no slop at all. Is it okay to leave it as it is,or should i put servos in the wings? Again,i dont really want to cut the covering so what would be a decent servo to use with this system? Any advice would be very much appreciated.     Edited By flyeruk on 05/08/2014 20:55:31 Edited By flyeruk on 05/08/2014 20:56:20 Edited By flyeruk on 05/08/2014 20:57:06

  15. I got three flights with my Tomahawk Viper Jet today. Just love the sound of the Change sun 12 blade fan. As to the hot weather, well,i dont like it. Never have liked it. All i can say is, bring on the winter Edited By flyeruk on 14/07/2013 22:14:31 Edited By flyeruk on 14/07/2013 22:15:14
  16. Hi and welcome to the forum. I am sure you will get all the advice you need on here, they are a very friendly bunch.I would try and give you some advice but there will be many more, very experienced members who will point you in the right direction.I started my flying with the help of this forum
  17. I have been bombarded with letters from a Mr Peter Popoff. I have been promised great wealth, perfect health and all for the princely sum of £20.00. Look him up on google,he might be able to help you too!!!
  18. I use weather supermarket. You get 5 forcasts from 5 different forecasters. I find you can compare all of them and come up with a reasonably good idea of what should be going on.
  19. Horizon are really good. I cant praise them enough. I have sent various Spektrum items to them and always get first class service. Last week i sent them a receiver that had a broken antenna. Sent it on tuesday,it arrived back on saturday, repaired and tested,no charge.
  20. Can i suggest the Dynam Meteor. It is the same size as the Habu, some say a clone, but half the price. I have had the habu and now have the Meteor. In my,limited, experience, the Meteor flys as good if not better than the Habu,it flys on 4s and 5s on the stock set up. On 4s it is very similar to the Habu but put a 5s in it,and it is very quick. I have dopplered it at 105mph but it still is very easy to fly.I have had around 30 flights using 5s and the stock system is coping very well.
  21. Today,i maidened the Viper Jet. In the end,i used the Dymond 69/Himax fan and motor unit that i purchased with the Viper.I also was using New Zippy compact 3300 4s 35C from HK. The wind was very low when i got to the field,no more than 3 mph and at times, virtually no wind at all. This did make be a bit unsure about the maiden but i thought i would go for it anyway.I also decided that i was going to underhand launch,as i always launch my other models this way. I feel i have more control over the throw launching this way.I added a couple of bits of grit paper around the c.o.g to give my fingers some grip. I set the timer for 3.5 minutes. Full throttle and a firm smooth push forward and away she went. There was virtually no dip as she went away from my hand, and climbed very smoothly upward. Took her into the first turn and she really felt good. A couple of circuits around the field, half throttle just to get the feel of her and trim out. She needed a couple of clicks of up and was then flying, straight and level. Open the throttle and she responded nearly instantly with a real turn of speed. The sound of the fan was very good,it just didnt sound like an edf. I did a few more circuits until the timer bleeped at me,then brought her round into land. I will say, probably because of hardly any wind, she did come in really fast but landed smoothly with a long slide. What can i say, this foamy jet is in another class. There was anther flyer at the field,in fact,he is in the UK gliding team, said the Jet looked really locked in and was very suprised when i told him it was a maiden flight. I checked the lipo and was getting readings around 3.87 per cell after 3.5 minutes so pleased with that. All the worry about lack of thrust was unfounded as she went away from me so easily and in nearly no wind.I can only say, this is a fantastic Jet and so pleased i purchased it.
  22. I know this is not a Tomahawk Viper Jet,this is my Dynam Meteor. I had purchased the Multiplex primer, paint and varnish for the Viper but thought i would try it on the Meteor first as it was looking a bit tatty.I removed the paint using duct tape, lifted the original paint really well. Themn wiped the Multiplex primer over the fuse with a piece of foam. It feels sticky when it first goes on but after about ten minutes it drys non sticky. I then masked up the plane and gave it a couple of coats of Multiplex yellow. It seems to have covered very well. I still have to do the canopy, this is going to be black with smoked glass. Overall,im really pleased with the result. I still need to add a couple of black strips to finish it off. Im going to leave it for a couple of days to dry properly then give it a coat of Multiplex silk matt. Also,a thanks to Bill for the info on the control throws for the Viper Jet. As to the Viper Jet progress,i have had to remove one of the elevator servos as it packed up on me. Hell of a job as the whole tail assembley is glued on. I had to use a very thin blade to cut through the glue to remove the servo. Hopefully,it will be all back together in the next week, then just wait for the nice weather, when ever that might be.         Edited By flyeruk on 03/03/2013 18:00:10
