  1. I would check the position of the slow running screw in the other side of the carb from the needle, it might be screwed to far out. Failing this then I hope somebody else has some ideas for you. Glenn
  2. I have been asked to sell one of these Radio sets, but have no idea if it of any use these days. it looks as if it has not been uses or used very carefully, each piece is still in the correct place in the box and it has full instructions, linear servos, switch charging lead and neck strap. I will put it on Ebay after Christmas but though it might be worth a mention here in case anybody is collecting or still uses this type of radio. Thanks Glenn
  3. I am teaching a guy at our club to fly with a small electric trainer, I did not realise he had one of these Orange stabilised Rx in it. I could not understand why when we banked the model to make a turn it kept coming back level. At first I thought it was my pupil, after much altering of rates, expo and anything else I noticed on the ground while checking to see if the surfaces were all working properly I noticed that as soon as the ailerons where operated they immediately returned to level thus making the model very difficult to fly in a relatively tight circuit. Next time out I will try to disable this feature and see if it flies any better. Glenn
  4. Hello John. Your Hurri looks very good I like the colour scheme, invasion stripes always stand out well against a grey sky.I am also building one of these kits, very slowly though as it is meant to be my winter project. I am just at the stage of fitting the engine mounting and cowl. What motor have you got in yours, I am trying to shoe horn an Sc120FS. It looks like I will have to beef up the bulkhead a bit and my even have to make a cut out to clear the carb. Regards Glenn
  5. Hi Tony. Looking very good. I came across some self adhesive aluminium on the Mick Reeves site might be a useful alternative to lithoplate. Glenn
  6. Hi Tony. I am keeping up to date with your thread, as I am still in the process of building mine. I saved a lot of weight by cutting holes in the tail feathers and then putting false ribs over the structure. Now that you have the tail and rudder off it might be a good time to lighten yours as it will save a lot of weight when it comes to balancing the model. I am also thinking of using Litho to cover the sheeted area on the fus so will be interested in anything you can find out. Glenn
  7. Hello Tony. I am building a Mick Reeves hurri at the moment, the wings like yours needed some attention as the veneer had split, but they are now complete but not joined. I have fitted flaps will I was at it and retracts. I am now in the final stages of the fuselage. Has the model that you have used the plastic moldings for the undertray and cowl as mine are in quite bad condition. I have also been following your thread on model chat to see if I can pick up any tips. you might find this link to yet another forum where a Hurri has been repaired some of the photos certainly helped me to see what bits went where **LINK** Looking forward to following your thread. Glenn
  8. The southern show is being held at Headcorn and I have only been there once, from what I remember the roads to the airfield are very narrow so do not be surprised if entry and exit are problems if large numbers turn up for this show.
  9. I have just bought a few bits and pieces from Giant Shark and they arrived within two days of the order so I cannot complain. I now will order some larger battery packs from them with confidence. I have bought from them in the past and never had a problem.
  10. It was disappointing that many of the lighter and more vulnerable planes could not fly, but this is not the organisers fault. We sat on the flight line just by the wind sock and heard all the announcements, no problem getting in or out I went on my Bike. I thought that given the gaps in the program they coped quite well.
  11. If you look in the contacts page you will find the address.
  12. I also agree with Graham. I have lost a couple of IC models due to brown outs in the early days using AR500 rx. Although they worked back at the patch and Spektrum could find no fault. I have replaced all of them and now run 6v on IC, all my Rx also have a satelite Rx even orange ones, since making this change I have not had a problem. I will add that I have never had a problem with electric even with AR500, so maybe the BEC from the speed controller regulates the voltage. During this period I also discovered that you suffer quite a large voltage drop if your switch is not in good condition. I have so far not had any issues with Servos, even though some of mine are old standard Fut 148 and Hitec 300. Glenn
  13. Hello Peter. This is not an easy kit to build so I can understand your frustration. I have however built two of these, my first one suffered radio problems. The second I built I thought as well as the first but included a rudder. However it does not fly anywhere near as well as the first, it is very responsive to the elevator and to try to fly it level is a real challenge. It is still in one piece however and I will persevere with it. Glenn
  14. I've had a similar problem to Peter in that checking an RX battery through the switch showed it to be low, however directly onto the battery it was OK. I then checked all my switches and found quite a variation in voltage. The ones with a high voltage drop I threw away.
  15. Flying is OK, Very cold but water certainly stops a model quickly. Edited By Glenn Philbrick on 03/12/2012 17:36:12
  16. I know this is a long time after the last thread on this model, but I have finally had a couple of successful flights with it. The main problem that I had was concerning excess vibration when the model was airborne at even very minimal throttle settings. This made it very marginal to fly and resulted in a few breakages before the solution was found. It turned out the the three blades props were flexing in flight and this caused the severe vibration. As the choice of tractor and pusher props is quite limited this took some time to sort. Once two bladed props where found to be Ok I had to make up new spinners to suit. It now flies well and has the correct presence in the air. So far I have managed 6 mins flight with 2x 4000 3s lipos but they are only about half used on landing so there is more time available.
  17. Hi Andy. I have just read this thread for the first time and I might have a possible solution to your runway. I used to work in the paper industry and have used their old dry felts as a runway on many occasions. The mills will change them on a regular basis as to change them when they break means loosing a lot of production time. These felts can be at least 4M wide and often in excess of 30m long and these are small ones. There used to be some mills up in Bury, also Albany is a manufacturer that used to be in the North they might even have some redundant ones. One warning though they are heavy and do not fold very easily. We are using some as pits at our club and they have been down for about 10 years now. Hope this helps. Glenn
  18. When putting larger engines on the front of this model be aware that there is only a couple of mm of cowl movement available, engines with longer crankshafts will not fit without considerable modification.
  19. The smaller version with bungee launch and ducted fans would be a definate build fo many. There are already a couple of vulcan kits with pushers but they don't look right. Thanks for your efforts. Glenn
  20. Hi Chris, I have a set of these fitted to an electric lancaster which weighs just under 7lbs. So far they have coped well, our patch is grass but quite flat. Hope this helps. Glenn
