Whether you like Marmite or not really doesn't matter of course - and in that respect its like so many other things in life that people think matter - but don't!   Its like "which Mode is best", "IC or Electric", "Slope or Field" etc. etc. there are no right answers - over the history of the world at lot of folks would have been a lot happier if they had realised that. Its Gulliver's Travels - the "big enders" and the "little enders"   BEB Ahhhhh...but who's better - Clapton or Hendrix? One still is ... the other was...   Augusto
  2. Posted by Terence Lynock on 24/03/2011 10:51:17: ..................................... Painting is a great way to unwind.....................................   I must agree with you Terry.   And I think that Bach's music goes very well with Monet's impressionist paints, and the hands of Keith Jarret (a jaz musician) in that hapsichord made a very good "ensemble" .   Cheers,   Augusto

  7. 50 years ... already? ... good memories from those days! ,,, time flies     BEB - you're very right indeed! that was me making some confusion! In fact, I was forgetting the "blue lane" and you know why? because everytime I go through the "blue lane" I don't feel it as costums!   It's understandable UK as a reluctant European! it only wiil be need to read History! and I support that position BEB.   Cheers   Augusto
  8. Yes Danny, he used to fly his real heli too. Remember his accident in Italy!   AugustoEdited By Augusto on 10/02/2011 11:38:55
  9. BEB, you're making some confusion. When you come from UK to the Continent - CE zone, you only have to show your passport at the the country of your entrance to be registered in the Shengen Protocol. You don't need to pass through customs becose you're coming from a CE country - free circulation of goods.   After entering the CE space you, as a CE citizen, are free to go werever you want inside CE zone - free circulation of people and goods.   The same for us when we go to th UK; arriving at Heathrow we show the passports to be registered and contrled by the British policy system. We don't need to go thtough costums or declare goods. After this, we are free to go to Scotland, or Irland because we are CE citizens and beeing contoled by the system as you are..   For those goods I order from UK, I pay VAT as you in the origin (UK) and they come to my address without paying anything else and without going trough the costums. From US or from other countries out the CE is the same as for you, but that's an other story!   Cheers,   Augusto

  17. Posted by Matt Jones on 30/01/2011 22:12:22: They have been very apologetic and did communicate all the delays to me but it was still surprise given all the good things I've heard about them.   You have heard good things about SLEC and I'm sure you'll continue to hear Matt. Last September I posted to them an order on-line asking for all the stuff I was needing to build my little Luton Minor (Eric Fearnley' s plan) - Balsa, piano wire (the good one, not those steel rods we use to by at DIY stores), wheels, snakes, fuel tank, and so one ....   I called them next day to give my credit card number confirming the order. In 5 workable days all that stuff was with me at home. I live in Porto - Portugal!   Is'nt it great Matt? Yes Folk they are very good professionals and their material is very good.   Cheers,   Augusto Edited By Augusto on 31/01/2011 22:20:36 Edited By Augusto on 31/01/2011 22:21:00
  18. Thank you Pete, very good explanation about how to address the mounting motor and tips about the access to the battery and control of C of G.   Agree you you about the Fokker, I've a long front to get all the stuff but a very short nose so to control de C of G, so it must be done as you suggest.   For the moment I must open te front, by the upside, to get out the fuel tank and all those fuel lines; then I must open the bulkhead as you said. In the end the access hatch will be inverted in relation to your tiger but the effect will be the same.   Cheers,   Augusto   Edited By Augusto on 26/01/2011 11:24:11 Edited By Augusto on 26/01/2011 11:24:58 Edited By Augusto on 26/01/2011 11:25:23 Edited By Augusto on 26/01/2011 11:25:47
  19. Thank you Eck and Chris for yous suggestions. Both of them match with the readings I made at "Electric flight for beginners" section in the forum.   Coincidently, this afternoon, searching in the trade on-line I found that combo deal at BRC Hobbies you have mention Chris. I'm waiting their reply to an order I set in their shop on-line last saturday so I'll call them tomorrow morning to see if they still may add this goods.   Thank you very much once more   Stephen: I return few years ago mate, but being an IC for almost 50 years I want to go electric at least one time and if I like and get not electrocuted may be I'll keep going in both systems as I wish   Cheers,   Augusto Edited By Augusto on 26/01/2011 00:06:45 Edited By Augusto on 26/01/2011 00:07:14
  20. Hi Folks,   Two days without reply ... Ok, no electric flyers outhere! or no interest, perhaps.   Thank you anyway   Cheers,   Augusto Edited By Augusto on 25/01/2011 22:41:39
  21. Hi Boys,   A long time ago (early 90's) I bought a little Focker DVIII from Graupner that, due to a brake in the hobby, I leave built and tex covered in this conditions:   As you can see I've all that bits to finish this bird.   Having been all the time an IC modeller I am an absolute null in electric.   So, deciding this would be my first electric I'm asking for your help about with which power system I must set up to elctrify it.   Specifications are as follow:   Wing Span: 41" (1050 mm), Lenght: 29" (740 mm), Wing load: 70,2 g/dm2 Estimated Weight for IC: 39 onces (1200g), IC: OS MAX 15 FP Radio: 3ch - throtle, elevator and rudder..   So what is your proposal folks?   Thank you in advance.   Cheers,   AugustoEdited By Augusto on 23/01/2011 19:19:27
  22. Good thread Hugh. I'm basicly a builder trying to be modeller too and enjoy to fly those models thatI build from plans and Kits. So, I totaly agree with BEB's and P.Miller's definitions butI suggest a change: I would replace the word "model" by the word "toy" in theirAssembler definitions.. only joking boys Cheers, AugustoEdited By Augusto on 19/01/2011 17:49:22
  23. Thank you Erfolg for your nice words.   I totaly agree with you about the overweighted scale models from those 70's days, but everibody early understood that and in the 80's the old school from the "free flight" designers like Phill, Vic, Bodo (and many others that unfortunately have been going away during this last years) and the models became lighter.   At that time scale models were smaller, WS were between 50 and 60", engines were less powerful but even so they were overweighted.   Now we have giant scale models, light built, combining new materials, draw by 60 cc, and more, engines, and sophisticated electronics.   But,in my opinion, the EF models are, nowadays, those who inherited design from the "free flyers".   Cheers,   Augusto Edited By Augusto on 19/01/2011 00:35:51 Edited By Augusto on 19/01/2011 00:37:40 Edited By Augusto on 19/01/2011 00:57:05
  24. Hi Folks,   I've been off the blog for a while because, after Christmas festivities, it was too cold for my bones to be at the workshop (garage).   Now, that weather became more soft we can return to the build.   My last task was to make the bellcranks and the push-rods to insert in the wings. In these days I tried toput them in place to see how would they work; definitively I don't like and I don't feel sure about that. So, I ordered micro servos from HK.   While waiting for them I can go with the covering of the half-wings by parts and then place the servos and close the cover.   In the meanwhile I return to the cowl. If you still remember I had made a plug to  mould it:   Well Folks this week-end I moulded it:   And after 72 hours jumped from the mold without strength and I like the result::   Now need to be sanded and primed and saded again, and ... you now the process   Cheers,   Augusto     Edited By Augusto on 17/01/2011 23:52:27 Edited By Augusto on 17/01/2011 23:53:50 Edited By Augusto on 17/01/2011 23:54:56 Edited By Augusto on 17/01/2011 23:56:47
