  1. It's wonderful....you must have a go with it when we meet up again...the Depron version will be on the board next week, but as for the larger version.....It will be Depron / balsa and maybe 1:1.5 in size. Perhaps it will be the bigger version next maybe...shouldn't take more than a couple of evenings to sort the parts..
  2. Rich has suggested the shim on my firefly II....so I may remake the plate as this appears a very sound idea....

  5. ! After a couple of weeks sorting out a few niggles, like twisted blades and the upgrade From a 20c to a 45c lipo....I am pleased with the outcome.....a few may say that this auto of Boddington, although not his design is not the best....but to be honest, if you stick at improving any model...you will be rewarded. Thanks loads to Rich Harris for giving me this opportunity to fly what I considered to be a fine model. I would recommend this design as an ideal choice for an electric model any day...after a change of 3 motors, the final choice was a 300watt 42mm motor mounted on the front of the firewall instead of at the rear....the final Lipo choice was a turnigy 45c 2200 3s....   Edited By Baz Lewis on 30/11/2014 16:10:26
  6. Going to try and get the DB higher than 10ft up in the morning.....now the rotor masts have been set to the correct angle and the blades balanced and the prop changed to achieve higher thrust....I am feeling optimistic.....
  7. Well! Put some clothes on her today....motor installed with all the gubbins. Just polish the wheels and give that wing a good scrub....perhaps a decal or two. Hopefully get it down to the field on Sunday for my initial taste of this unorthodox classic.....
  8. Vic Bond and Dave Toyer were the original test pilots of the DB auto gyro, the prevalence of the Dutch roll tendencies were diminished greatly when Dave added a top fin to the existing fin by adding it to the top of the original tailplane design. If any of these two were around today, I am sure they would love to tell us more.......
  9. I looked up Bob Brown (the original designer) and didn't come up trumps apart from the AMA president......
  10. Anyone know where the DB Autogyro c of g is!
  11. I have managed to rebuild the front tonight, so will put the motor and belly on tommorrow and will make the top hatch and side wall stiffeners.....
  12. Original advert.....I wish they were still this cost........
  13. Let the work begin.........all the guts removed to make way for the re construction of the original shape and shift the weight into the belly......motor and Lipo will provide the power and hopefully maiden it within a week......
  14. Recently acquired the DB auto gyro from a chap who dabbles with auto gyro' s...Richard something or other.....well! It came with an engine and tank, but I think it's worthy of a 750kv brushless...I've had this autogyro type in many guises over the years and always ic....it looks such an easy model to build, I may scale it up 2 x.......
