  1. I agree, I just dont like the look of that particular Spit MPO! However its better than a film covered arf with shiny greens, greys and browns! The Spit just does not look right for some reason and the Typhoon does!! I like the Hurricane too...   What about the B-25? Flying "heavies" yourself this might be a nice challange and surely a stunning model at over 2m, twin and all? Just ideas to your quest!
  2. Fly the model as if your sat in the cockpit, hold the power on hanging over the stall speed, fly it in! It wouldnt be a warbird if there was no challange in it lol!!   Ya re. the vid you can see the guys are more 3d type pilots as they yank and bank lol! But the vid might have been bad but the idea was set on the models not the pilot, forgiving in a case?   Off thread sorry, Danny I need to chat to you about some mods to the TF Spit... another thread or Pm if its ok with you?   James i like the Typhoon, go for it, I reckon you would be surpirsed! Its xmas so treat yourself!
  3. Over in Germany the YT models are distributed under another name,  here some other war birds, incidently the P-51D Danny mentioned is 199.00 Euro's here
  4. James as you know I earn the Queen's Shilling wearing the cucumber suite all day etc too... I couldnt agree more with your last comment!   Back to models! The Kyosho Spits are nice fliers, sport models really as much as the H9 stuff! For the price of the YT models your probably looking at a lot more model/scale like; for the same buck?   Go lecky with a sound system , more of a challange than plonking a oily on the front!
  5. Cross posted Stephen,   I cant agree more, the H9 Jug flies superbly and the electric converion is simple enough!
  6. Hi James,   I pondered on YT warbirds for ages and nearly got the Hurricane a while back (which I wish I did). However I have a YT Pitts Python and the quality for a ARTF was very good and flies just as well as it looks. My personal oppion would be that YT is very good and go for it!   As for the powerplant the electric option would be a nice challange and be a nice conversion, I converted a H9 p47 to electric and did some other mods to it like having a scale tail wheel position etc etc and it makes a difference. Actually maidended it today and felt at home and back in the game, even though it was electric is still looked the part after some weathering and the other mods. Flying on 6s with a 3 blade prop it flew scale, if I popped a 2 blade on then it would be the conventional sport flier. The conversion was a thinker really as the short nose on the jug would have problems with c of g location, but some thinking and tinkering got my weight to the nose.   The typhoon is uncommon so possibly my choice for you? Heart says the Spitfire as I am putting together a TF Spit over the winter and will convert it to lecky! HobbyKing have a sound system thats affordable with all my bonus points so once in stock I will give it a go, it has spitfire software on it already so cuts some corners there.   I fancied a nice warbird so gave Phil from FighterAces a ring to chat about my options, he told me all about the scale retracts for the desired Spitfire that has a adjustable valve so one can change the rate etc of the up/down... SOLD I was as along he done me a deal with some paints etc etc...     Have a google and check out RCG reference the models you thinking of, I think after reading a few builds etc you could decide for yourself?

    The Cafe

Just finnished my copy of Call of Duty "Black Ops", not as good as Mordern Warefare!
  8. Very nice model, the backround added to the drama and era in a way!

  10. Ok how about a airliner, say a classic DC-4, Viscount, 727, 747-100, possibly a Catalina, Lockheed L-1049? LHF is right about single engined warbirds; times did move on after WW1 and WW2
  11. Hi ED, thanks   I was flying the Yak earlier in the  year with the supplied mounts and it has proved fine! I have had to fly with a Biela 23x8 to keep the noise down and the DLE 50 is still very powerful.   Cheers
  12. Same thing happened to mine Gaz, the original U/C is not great, I replaced it since with a cheap carbon one of similar size from HK or GC, I cant remember as it was a while ago but it has been flawless.   I possibly might have a aluminium one if you have no luck...

    What's going on?

MMM.... Interesting, I need to "dig" some more, as with all the time and effort the new TN Spit would offer more with its span and price...   I think it the Ultimate or whatever version of the kit so was assumed by some googling that it was a cut kit, more thinking round the gear installation and electric mods>>>   Starting to talk moddeling, must be nibbling

    What's going on?

Ya, a box of wood and some plastic cowlings etc...  is there better?

    What's going on?

Thanks for the kick in the butt guys, feeling spured to progress now - I think!   Right the weather is not going to go on my side for week or so forcast so it seems it must be a build... Found the desire for a classic model that I can build and fly once complete obviously! Once I start building perhaps a few sorties with a "hack" will encourage the enthusiasm to complete a mild build, but a decent one and a flier I hope too...   So still the Top Flite Spit is talking to me?   options, oppions, suggestions and thoughts on this idea to get back into the game?

    What's going on?

Ok ok, thanks for giving me the courage to reply! All thoughts and advise on heed...   EDF jets are looking at me going "NOOOOO"   Your right balsa and glue, loads of pins and ideas of paint designs/schemes are flooding to memory... I like the painting part and looking at a model finnished by my airbrush (not by any gods standards)!!   I saw/seen a TF 65" Spitfire kit for sale on the BMFA website, is enough to inpsire my desires? I hope the seller would email me back reference the kit as its a good price... I feel really I "real aeroplane" to get the urge back? What you reckon, nothing to hard to build but something that satisfying enough, can be finnished to a hearts content and will look the part in the skies?   Any kits, ideas motivation are welcome, as for the cash I have not spent a penny on anything model aircraft related in sometime... I am by no means a "rich bloke"! A spur to the passion would me minimal to a divorce cost LOL to stop the wife moaning at me to "get a grip" and build. play with planes whilst she watches TV....
  17. Fellow forumites,   I have returned from my travelles afar and have been wondering were my passion and interests are? I am struggling to get motivated with model aircraft and flying... it was in my blood a few months ago flying Jepe jets around the skies etc... now I feel nothing   Do I need to build something to get the love back? Its taken me a week to even look at the forum and pluck the self estein to admit I am in a rut?   Perhaps its the lack of appealing models? Dunno, get me back ont he saddle again please!!
  18. I have built this model and have the build pictures on cd, if you want I can email them to you as its not such a big file! PM me your email and I shall send them to you with in 24hrs once I can find the cd and recover from jetlag...   However its not rocket science to put this puzzle together and you will be rewarded with good flying capabilities I assure you! I built one about 3 years ago and its still sat in the celler today (granted not new and shiny) but it is flyable!   Back then I went for a 200W motor on 3s 2200 and it flew nice (stand on the prop in the wind). Now I would probably keep the motor light at the back to lessen the weight needed on the nose, this is a area that will break on the gentlest of landings. However the c of g range is massive and if you make working canards you can really do some crazy stuff with it on full rates...   So you need 1 servo for each elevon, 1 for a rudder (make the rudder big as you can to be effective enough) and 1 for a canard if you wish.   Hope this helps?   P.s trace the pieces onto some depron or paper so if it all goes wrong you can cut and make another...   its good to be back
