  1. Hi Danny, As promised here are some pics of the DBSportandscale Spit Mk1a. Its taken me 3 months to get to this stage, alot more work to do! Motor is a Hacker A60-18M, will use a APC 21x13WE prop first and see how she flies, my mate has a similar motor and is making some moulds for 3 blade carbon props so we will see how they come out and perform. I got my retracts custom made from FighterAces, I made my own wheel covers in the end . Plenty of room for 10s/12s, the sound system amplifier fitted just about the esc, the esc is mounted flat to the firewall between the motor mount. I only managed to fit one speaker in the cowl, its just under the motor (I will get some better pics) however I am trying to think of where to fit the second speaker, any idea's? Problem with a narrow cowling!! Maybe the second speaker could squeeze in the cockpit? Instrument panel is the 1/5th scale from Mick Reeves, had to trim it down as the DB Spit is 1/5.4 (17.5%) but it works for me! Notice the brass railing for the a functional sliding canopy. Rudder and elevator trim tabs, no control horns on this model, the elevator control horn is central inside the fuselage. Rudder is pull/pull controlled, also the nav light on the tail is functional.   Glad this has got a 2 peice wing!! The weight before glassing with everything fitted was 7.5kg, yet to weigh again, but I expect the flying weight tobe between 10-11kg when complete.   Cheers   Dusty

  7. So many ways to skin a Spit aint there? A nice method Dan, Tim did your method add a significant ammount of weight?   Its nice to be back online again!   Phil sells/used to some gear door clips that clip onto oleos?
  8. British Airways own's Comair in SA, I think Kulula is a independant company! They change their aircraft appearance often, I have some pictures of a Kulula 73 in Durban pre football Wc kitted out for the event, pritty cool no thrills airline!   Cheers
  9. Like you tried it once and it wasnt for me either BEB, probably works for those fast and furious in the gossip life and on the move earning more money than you can shake a stick at??
  10. Thanks David,   PM Sent so I guess thats the thread closed
  11. As I live in Germany I can give it a go to help me along with my challange of learning the language! Is that a good enough?
  12. Danny,   Have you had a look at Mick Reeves website? He has some rivet stuff on there in a number of scales, might speed up the process possibly?   I have used that Trim-Line tape for the panel lines and found that to be good tape, but I suppose there is more than one way to skin a cat and also depending on what materials you have to hand or can get hold of?   Have you managed to try that prop adaptor I sent you a while back?   Cheers
  13. Hi Danny,   Your model looks really really good and cant wait to see this one finnished! I assume you are not going to make a sliding canopy and side hatch? Nevertheless it is still superb..   I have just started on the DbSportandscale Spit recently, it seems to be going well at the moment "touch wood"   As soon as I am 100% back online I will update on the progress with some pics, in the meantime I am hovering over your thread with the progression of your build.   Cheers
  14. Off to the 2011 show in the morning, surely I cant come home empty handed??? Standby for some pics, hope there is more on offer this year!
  15. Tony, whats your patch like that you fly off, cricket pitch or ploughed land?
  16. Cheap, cheerful and good performance for a 70mm fan, lander panther! 3rd season for mine now...
  17. No prob! Let me know if you need anymore and I will ask my mate to make some more!   Dusty
  18. WOW! Thats really really nice, so much skill! Well done, I look forward to a successful maiden!
  19. Looking sweet! I really cant wait for you to complete this model! Off topic but my sound system arrived today, all soldered up and had a quick test after programing the sound card. Yes the Merlin sounds sweet, why did I never get one of these ages ago? Now where to put everything??? LOL
  20. Looking good Danny! Keep a eye out for the postman as there is a gift for you enroute! Let me know when it arrives!   I will have a play with the sound system when it arrives, a P-47 might sound like a Spitfire for the flying season but I dont care lol its a good test bed to get used to the system, a great substitute for lead weight!   Thanks for the info on the sound, look forward to your vids, dont rush as you have a lot of things on the go. Once I start my build you should have some paint on your Spit? Edited By Dusty on 04/04/2011 19:50:42
  21. Sorry, 2 speakers via 2x 40W amps, what sort of Db are you talking from your set, I gotto keep under 71db at 25m so prob no need for extra speakers that cant be used unless as weight in the snozzle? Checked the plan and 10s will fit snug in the Db Spit, 12 prob too easily depending on Lipo brand/dimension!
  22. In the DB Spit when I get started! Might mock mount it in the H9 P-47 just to play around with the system and get a feel, ya cant wait to have a play lol!
  23. Cool, I will post it to you Monday! Just to TEASE you my Bendini sound system is arriving next week , Thomas sent me confirmation today that the order was complete!
