  1. I want to build a Vic Smeed/Ben Buckle kit (not decided which one yet) and noticed on some of the kit descriptions they show simple RC conversion. Are these kits generally suitable for converting to lightweight rc and powering with electric motor, can they accommodate esc and lipo?   Having looked on various forums some of these kits can be converted, but not neccessarily the ones I'm attracted to build. Some of them have stringers running the length of the fuselage and would therefore be difficult to alter.   My shortlist of models is: Falcon Brigadier Falcon Mamselle Southerner 60 Diamond Demon Quaker Flash   Your views appreciated.
  2. I had reason to send a Spektrum 6210 DSM2 Rx to Horizon to check it out for me following a crash and the next day I received a brand new 6210x. All I asked was for them to check it out for my piece of mind.   WOW! now thats what I call service.   Well done Horizon and thank you..
  3. Series 3 Twin Needle Carburettor for 10-21 size engines It's a Just Engines series 3 twin needle carburettor.   I'll give your suggestions a go.   Thanks for your help.   Russ
  4. I don't know. How can I tell.   Thanks
  5. I've recently converted an Enya 19 control line engine to rc, using a new carb from just engines. It runs fine at full throttle but cuts out when I throttle back.   What is the procedure for making adjustments to get a reliable engine run from tick over to full throttle.
  6. I have the same problem ever since the new articles were added, same error meesage, article not found. All the other articles play fine.
  7. For fine detailed work I use an iron with interchangable heads, 1 approx 10 mm wide, + 1 domed head great for getting into those ackward places. I think its made by prolux, but looking at SMS website they do not list one.   I did buy it a few years ago.
  8. I've recently converted an old Enya 19 that was originally intend for C/L use, to RC. The silencer however does not have a pressure nipple, is it neccesary to pressurise an RC slec tank?
  9. I had a similar problem with my World Models Groovy, the u/c looks exactly the same as Renegade. I used 1/4 ply for the base and also ran this up the inside of the fuselage plus triangluar strip as reinforcement, giving greater contact points plus spreading the load. I also replaced the metal u/c bolts with plastic bolts and now whenever I misjudge the landing its the plastic bolts that break not the plane. My LMS sell these bolts in strips of 10 so easy and cheap to replace at the field, 10 minutes and your flying again.
  10. Give the windscreen a wipe and check the oil please. Mind the paint work!
  11. My 1st model was the Tutor 40 and I'm sure the engine mount was an adjustable type (not one piece), I used 2 different engines for more power and remember taht the bolt holes were in the same place but I had to widen the mounting arms. I can't understand why they would supply a one piece mount! strange,
  12. Here's the link, its list under RC spare & accessories in the left hand menu. I used the transulcent red. Its so sticky that I can't remove it to carry out a repair even after reheating.   http://www.giantcod.co.uk/covering-building-stuff-c-39_164.htmlEdited By Russ Payne on 09/02/2011 22:06:23
  13. Have you looked at coverings sold by Giantcod? £12 for a 5 meter roll, I've used them and they are very good, strong adhesive and strong.   Russ
  14. David - Four flights today with my xmas present, fantastic sunny day no wind. Model climbed away supurbly from hand launch. I placed the rx behind the ESC and ran the aerial out through one of the vents under the wing/fus and taped it to the fus. Lipo weighs 180g, which balanced the model exactly where you show on the video. I also inceased the expo to 40% and the model handled beautifully.   One thing though, have you any suggestions as to improving the flight time. I'm using 3s 2200 and get a 5 minute flight, what can I do to get longer flight times. I sorry for my ignorence but this is my first electric model.   Thanks   Russ
  15. I got it from Galaxy Models for £98.99, early in the new year. The price sticker on the box said 109.99 which is the price I've seen on other sites. Perhaps I got it at an older price/old stock I didn't ask. Thats for the Model with ESC, motor & servos all fitted. Just had to add Lipo and RX.
  16. Maiden flight yesterday, wow!! Dread to think what my heart rate was, but it was pounding.   Flight went really well, glad I had some expo has it is really easy to over control this model even with expo. Hand launched myself, left handed (I'm right handed) and she zoomed away. C of G is exactly were David said in his video, using a 2200 lipo.   Landing was beautiful, closed throttle and just watched her glide in, a little flair and touch down.   Great model for less than £100.
  17. I always use expo on all my models, better safe than sorry. My club instuctor advised this and I've just continued with it, although there are some club members who pooh pooh this idea.
  18. Fitted RX after carefully cutting some foam, ventilation holes in side of fuselage/under wing convenient for aerial to exit, connected battery which fitted perfectly under rear seat and bob's your uncle! everything worked as it should, dialled in some expo and ready to go, cant wait!
  19. If you follow Thomas' link above everything is explained. There are a number of You Tube pieces at the bottom of the article, one by Mr Ashby no less. All very useful.
  20. Its the Century UK French Display team model
  21. I have just purchased an Alpha jet, very good vfm, but I can't figure out where to install the AR 500 RX. Any help with the aid of a photo would be appreciated.   Thanks   Russ
