It's not clear whether it's the cross-wind component that's 45 kts, or just a 45 kt wind that's partly across the strip. But heck - it's the Daily Mail, so such subtleties are way over their journos' heads... But even so, it's fairly extreme! Have a dig around on youtube for videos of the crosswind testing carried out in Iceland for the A380 and for the Boeing 777. Like this...
