Looking for flying field suitable to hold F5B competition events

The UK F5B league is looking to move their F5B events around the UK in a bid to attract more participants to the class. To this end we are looking for clubs or landowners who would be prepared to let us use their land one or more times a year (in return for a small fee) – Our website www.f5b.co.uk has all the information about the class. The requirements for the field are essentially the following
• Size – we need a large flat field, minimum of– 250m x 150m relatively flat with reasonably short grass – Normal grazing length of a few inches is fine. If the main strip isn’t big enough as long as there is the ability to walk out with the boundaries for the bases this is ok.
• Trees around the site are fine – though we would prefer not to have 30+m too close as they tend to limit where you can fly the duration.
• If you could help we would be willing to come and fly a few demo flights so as you have a better idea of what we do.

The F5B league will provide all the equipment for the event. Though any willing helpers on the day are always welcome.

Prepare to have your gobs thoroughly smacked if you take up the offer of a demo!

 

One of my clubmates is an F5b flier and just the blip of his 4 kW motor with a stalled prop prior to flying is enough to spin everyone's head - no matter how many times you hear it!

 

Watching an innocuous looking motorised glider (sporting a  folding 18 inch prop with an effective pitch of around 20 inches) accelerate to 100mph plus in not more than a second (for the most part vertically!) is something not to be missed...
