Another TN 72" Spitfire

Danny and Herri have shamed me into recording the progress of my TN 72" Spitfire, hopefully I can learn from their mistakes, but don't expect it to be finished soon, far too many gliders to maintain, t'is the winter sloping season!

Fuse side glued together.

Some formers glued on, made a mistake on the front doubler they are handed  to match the side thrust of the firewall, didn't find out until I glued the fuse together, oh well

Decided I needed to hack up F2 as it was going to foul the leads on my batteries when I make the battery tray.

The fire wall has a hole cut out for 2 x 4s1p 3700 batties to lie side by side. Will need a tray as well. The aim is to get the batteries as far forward as possible to help with the balance.

Had to build a fuse jig, got the slec one and after a few trials and tribulations managed to get it sorted.

After Danny mentioned that the triangular stock made it hard to bend the fuse to shape, I decided to omit them until after the fuse is joined together. Obviously the fuse jig helps as well, wetted the top sides with water and bent them onto the formers using masking tape to hold them in place. Thin cynao was used to glue everything in place, as it allows you to line everything up before soaking with the cynao into the joint.

This is when I found out the ply doubler was on the wrong side, will have to dremel away one side 5mm and add 5mm to the other side to compensate and get the firewall at the correct angle.

Bends easily without triangular stock, cheers for the heads up Danny!

That's all for now.
