IanP
I have a T8FG Tx.The manual makes a point of saying that it must only be charged with the supplied charger.I have always charged my other Futaba Tx's with my field charger. Does anyone know of a reason why I shouldnt do this with the T8FG.
David Ashby - Moderator
Hi Ian The 8 FG is my main TX these days and I rarely use the charger supplied. I tend to fast charge NiMHs (the way I believe they're happiest being treated) and simply take off the batt cover and connect up the charger to the 1700mAh NiMH. Occasionally I'll cycle the pack too. IanP
Hi David, This is what I thought. Is there a problem charging the batteries in the transmitter?I only charge at maximum of 500ma.
David Ashby - Moderator
In some cases not Ian but I direct charge - 1. Because I don't have a plug lead I can hook up to my LCD screen chargers (although I'm sure I could get one so perhaps I'm lazy) 2. I'm not sure what 'protection' circuits are built in to the Tx so I charge direct just bypass these. Like me you've probably noticed how little is taken out of a TX when you re-charge after a flying session, especially dedicated 2.4GHz Tx's so I prefer not to leave them on charge overnight like in the good old days

Ultymate
I have the Futaba 10C and fast charge regularly through the usual socket on the side of the transmitter no problems to date
Barrie Dav 2
David, at what rate do you charge your NiMHs? My Futaba T7C 2.4GHz TX was supplied with a 9.6v 2300 NiMH battery. I usually use the supplied wall charger but a faster charge might be useful.Edited By Barrie Dav 2 on 06/12/2010 08:50:
