Does a flat plate section make a difference

Recommended Posts

I have built a indoor/parkflyer 540 edge from GC.
The model comes with no recommendation for CG position.
The model has a straight leading edge, with a taper on the TE, the mean chord is 7" or 175mm.
I have set my CG at 30% or 50mm from the leading edge, but to date my model is unflown.
A number of other modellers with same model have their CG at 80mm, which is nearly 50% back, and fly theirs successfully.
Are flat plate airfoils different to more conventional sections. Is this why a rearward CG works. Is this rearward CG more appropriate for this type of model than 30% starting position?
