Paul Williams
Hi all I am fitting a RCGF engine into a large scale P47. I am wondering if the ing unit will be ok fitted inside the cowel. I know this is not an ideal enviroment but there are numerous problems if I fit it behind the fiewall. It would be sited at least 2" from the exhaust. What are your thoughts please as anybody done this without problems.
Simon Chaddock
it could well be ok but I would be concerned at the temperature inside the cowl. Its not just the exhaust gasses that are hot as about the same amount of heat is given off by the engine. It might be worth adding a small shroud & making sure cool air is ducted over it. Lee Smalley
i mounted my ignition module on the firewall of my raven just do everything you can to isolate from vibration and heat
Ultymate
Don't wrap it in foam allow the air to get to it, vibration is the main enemy, sit it on a bed of foam I usually use velcro straps to secure or cable ties. If you use cable ties I recommend you put lengths of fuel tubing over them where they contact the ignition unit

Doug Ireland
Make sure you keep it well away from the receiver, wherever you decide to put the ignition unit.
Ultymate
Relative position to receiver is not an issue if you're on 2.4 gear
