magoo
Hi all, i`ve just bought a humbrol airbrush,to paint the hurricane im building its very cheap at £13 so i thought i would give it a go.I`m using humbrol enamel paint with thinners, and a can of propellant i followed the instructions and at first it was ok but after i applied the first coat the paint stopped coming out, just air seemed to be.My initial thoughts were that perhaps thepaint was`nt thin enough so i added more thinners but no luck,it is not blocked as the tube that goes into the paintpot was still sucking.Could it be that the can of propellant is not good enough or do i need a compressor???.Im stuck can you guys help?? Danny Fenton
Hi Magoo, those propellant cans are not brilliant. I used that same set up many years ago and it was just about good enough for smaller airfix models. Which is I guess what its aimed at. A small compressor is not very dear these days, if its a one off I use aerosols from halfords. One thing that used to block on my old Humbrol suction airbrush was the tiny vent in the top, to allow air into the pot to replace the paint coming out. Another thing I found useful was to put my finger over the nozzle and give it a puff of air, such that the air was forced down the suction tube, if you know what I mean, you could see the paint bubbling and it cleared the suction tube. Hope that helps Cheers Danny
David Gilder
Try adjusting the height of the paint supply nipple into the airflow!!! If you have removed it for cleaning or even moved it a bit whilst cleaning it can have a huge effect on the spray!! I would suggest moving it up 1/4 turn at a time!!!
