Terence Lynock
The Vanguard and the Britannia were two of the nicest looking airliners of the pre-jet era, pity they are now all but forgotten, it would be nice to see a big flying model of a Brit on the cercuit. Simon Chaddock
As the Vanguard was intended for the European routes it had a big fuselage and relatively small wing. The Britannia was long haul and had a much bigger wing. With 4 Tynes turning those big props it had quite a performance but was not the quietest thing to ride in. As a lad I went to Gibraltar and back in one.
