Reuben Evans
To get the proper 3-blade prop first find the correct 2-blade one. Then go with the same make prop and get one which is as close to 0.91 times the diameter of the old one. IE a 10x5 APC 2-blade is equiv. to a 9.1x5 APC 3 blade prop so you go with a APC 9x5 3blader (This is at least close enough for our applications). For most average applications (5-15"props) you do the same as just dropping 1" off the diameter - but go up much bigger you will find you have to use the formula. For example a DA 150 on cans turns a Mejzlik 32x10 2-Blade prop at circa 6700 RPM. Its equivlant is a Mejzlik 29x10 3-Blade propwhich the engine will turn at circa 6700 RPM. Seeing that Mejzlik props are all carbon the difference in power output is minimal.Reuben
