Well that could be the case. It's not just Weston that could do this, also at most shows don't the pilots have a major input, and does it matter as the theme would be to show the public lots of ready cash is NOT required.

we start our local show with a trainer slot, then a hands on dinner time for the public. it does bring in a small amount of cash, but it's the dullest part of the show.
good chance to get around the stands.

Well, it works brilliantly at Paddock Wood (Hop Farm). They have about 6 trainers in the air on buddy leads throughout the lunch break of their show and charge £1.00 for a go and anyone can have a go. Now that does get people interested, always been a massive queue.

We were going to try this with a slight twist at Our fun flys this year, we were going to have a simulator tent with a couple of laptops runing flight sims so that prior to the public having a go with the models on buddy leads, they had to have a briefing on the simulator. The first fun fly was not well attended by the public so it never got of the ground, but we still want to try it at our other two fun flys, YT and Electric, later in the summer. I think its an excellent idea, provided you attract some non modellers to have a go.

At the SAA show at Castle Kennedy (Cults Airfield) a Flight Sim set-up with normal computer size screens up to a really nice near professional one went down a "bomb".
