Hogster
Hi all, I run a model club at school. We have recently built and flown the BMFA gyminie cricket and frog models. Now I want to give the students a taste of Radio Control flying. I`m considering the eRC Micro Stick. It looks fairley robust and is on special offer at Galaxy Models at the moment. What do you think? Would it be suitable for kids of 11-13? Other model recommendations would be welcome.
Steve Hargreaves - Moderator
Is this indoors our out Hogster? If out then the EPP V Trainer from Flying wings might be a good idea......it bounces well being made of foam & I suspect there might be a little bit of bouncing going on!!! Good luck... Allan Bowker
The 'LiteFlite Bug' might be worth considering and very easy to build. Flying wings used to make a similar plane called the 'Bongo'. Although it's not on their site any more, I'm sure they could supply one if asked.
Hogster
It is for indoor flying. We will be using the gym hall. It needs to be able to fly at reasonably slow speeds. I know of the vapour but I can get two Micro sticks for the same price. This is the micro Micro stikEdited By Hogster on 16/06/2011 10:52:
Tim Mackey
The stik is very cheap, but I dont think it will fly as slowly as the Vapor. One thing with any of these indoor models, is that despite there low weight and mass parts do break, so you need to consider availablity of these. Hogster
Do you know if the vapor is available mode 1?
Tim Mackey
It just binds to a spektrum transmitter so will be whatever mode you are on that.If you buy it complete with Tx, then I think it comes mode 2 - but I may be wrong.
David Ashby - Moderator
The little 'controllers' that you can buy with it are mode changeable.
Tim Mackey
Ah, thanks David.... there must be thousands of those things laying around in peoples cupboards, or on Ebay - together with the chargers !
