Motor 4 WOT4.

Recommended Posts

Just turning a wot4 classic ic into a electric.
Guys here have done this i see and use 4s packs. The KV on that was 660kv apx and 13x8 prop.
The thing with mine is i have 5s packs from a heli i want to use.And the 66o kv motor 4120/14 i have been told will not like 5s packs.
The kit manual staes a weight of 5 - 5.5 lbs,not sure what it will be when completed,say 5 - 6.
Do not need a rocket ship at tyhe moment so can anyone give some advice please?

Gary,
The weight of my newish Mk3 with a 5S, 4000 is much the same
as the Classic on 4S I put in the database, at about 5lb 6oz ready to go.
The extra weight of the 5s over the 4s has eliminated the noseweight
and Rx battery needed in the 4S model to get the CG location correct.

Richard ,thanks for the info.Had no idea a database was here, just found it.
I am still a bit concerned on what way to go being new.Run big prop or small.
It looks like the popular motor is 4240/10 for the 4s but i was told it will fry with 5s.
I was recommended a 4460/6 for 5s but its 500kv and1375 watts! and to use a 14x6 prop.
This will be used to learn with using bud box system so i do not need out right power i am a novis.Trying to use the 5s packs i have as made motor choice a bit harder.
I do not know what do for the best.

Gary,I have already told you that you could use that motor if you prop down.
Motors only "fry" if you exceed their current rating, and it may well overload on 5s IF you use the same prop, so prop down a bit, and use a wattmeter to keep the motor within its limits.
Theres no reason why the Wotty wont fly fine on say, a 13 or 14" prop.
