Looks fine without it to me......and your installation is neater than a neat thing....so neat in fact i think i will build one now...thanks Steve. Mark B
There should be some pics of my model in the gallery. its built from the original plan (much modified see pics) and powered by a GWS 2205/15T motor with a GWS 15A ESC (it came as a combo) the battery was a 2S 1000mah zippy lipo from hobby king. run time is about 15 min on an 8x4 GWS prop. Hope this helps. its so wierd knowing that there are lots of MT's out there now. a year ago and mine was the only one in NZ.
Bernard Dolinski
Would a 1cc glow work well in this plane? I can get one for $44 and was reccomended to do a plan before i design a plane off of three views as i was planning on doing.
Steve Hargreaves - Moderator
A 1cc glow will be perfect Bernard......
Bernard Dolinski
This is the engine i wsa thinking of. Would the lack of lsn be an issue or am i missing something? Edited By Steve Hargreaves - Moderator on 25/05/2012 09:14:
Steve Hargreaves - Moderator
Hi Bernard....please can you take a moment to read this tutorial on posting links.... That motor should be absolutely fine in your MT......it will be quite quick with that motor but it has a throttle so you can always reduce the power...... Not sure what you mean by "the lack of an Isn" though.....
Bernard Dolinski
Well by the looks in the pics and according to one of the threads on rc universe it has no low end needle or an airbleed. But apparently you can put one in for better throttling characteristics.
Bernard Dolinski
An airbleed that is
Bernard Dolinski
Another thing i was looking at is the wing spars. Are they balsa or spruce/basswood etc? If so ill have to use the whit pine because that is all i can really get. And the truss work at the back, is that balsa?
Major
The only exception in the wing section (according to plan) is a pair of dihedral braces, which are made of ply. All the rest is balsa wood. Cheers Tom
Bernard Dolinski
So the whole thing is balsa except for engin bearers and dihedral brace. That is going to be alot easier than trying to source the basswood/spruce etc
Chris Channon
Hi all, will the mini Tyro fly on a Cox .049? i am building one and using a diesel, and i thought i would build my son a Mini Tyro but the only small engine i have is a Cox .049. Thank you, Regards Chris.
TheFlyingCrust
It was originally built for the Mills .75 IIRC. The Cox is amonst certainly more powerful that the Mills so I'd say it would be fine. I run my MT with a DC Merlin. Steve Hargreaves - Moderator
The Cox will be fine Chris....the original DB plan shows a DC Dart 0.5cc diesel!!!!You will need to lose the engine bearers & bolt the engine to F1 but thats an easy mod....Have fun.... David Cooke 1
I'd like to build this as my second model. Is there a scanned copy of the article around please? I contacted RCME for a back issue of Nov 2011 but there are non left. I guess there are no copyright issues as I'm only after the article - not the plans. Thanks
