Telink Tetra - Sweet little flyer

Recommended Posts

I was looking for a small 4ch model that I could fly in a small field close to my house to develop my skills. I didn't want one of the UM's and after a bit of a search I came across the Telink Tetra as sold by Robotbirds.

Model specs: 24" wingspan, EPP, AUW 90 - 110g depending on motor/esc, servos, etc.

This model is a little off the mainstream and there's not much info available about it save for a few ( all positive) remarks on the Robotbirds site and a couple of videos on youtube. I decided to take the plunge and ordered one.

This is a kit that has to be built although it's not exactly conventional and may put some people off. In addition, the supplied manual is awful: a slightly better online version is available on the Telink website. However, it's often a case of best guess when building as no dimensions are provided. Despite this, anyone with previous experience can put this model together but I would advise against for a complete beginer.

Well, after a somewhat frustrating ( at times) build I finally maidened this little plane today. Within a few minutes all of my frustrations melted away. First flight the model was a tad tail heavy but not unmanageable. A few flights later when everything was dialed in the Tetra proved to be a lovely smooth flying little gem of a model. It will fly fast or slow, loop easily from straight and level flight, rolls, stall turns and inverted flying are all within its capabilities.

To conclude: I am over the moon with this little model and it gives me all that I was looking for. Despite the somewhat unconventional and frustrating build at times, the end result was well worth it.

Highly recommended.
