dav84
Hi All I haven't been able to find the answer anywhere to the following question. Is it best to adjust the gain on the Gyro itself or leave it at the mid point and adjust the gain on the controller? Thanks Dave
YakMad
Turn the Gain to 100% on the Gyro if you intend to control the gain from the transmitter.
James B
Just came across this thread. So if you turn the gain to 100% on the giro, would you set the gain on the transmitter to 100% before you turn the it on?
dav84
Hi James It depends what you are after. On most Transmitters 0 to 50% is rate mode and 51 to 100% is head holding mode. So if you set 100% on the transmitter you will have 100% of head holding. If you set the transmitter to 75% you would have 50% head holding. In short below 50% rate mode, above 50% head holding. Hope this makes sense. Dave
Allan Bennett
Just to add to what dav84 has said, heading hold is generally anything above 50% on the transmitter, though some transmitters, I believe, go from -100 through 0 to +100, instead of simply from 0 to 100, in which case heading hold would be any +ve percent. But whichever way your transmitter works, if you increase the percentage too much your tail gyro will become twitchy. So, when you get to that point, you back it off a little until the twitchiness goes away.
James B
I think I was having a senior moment. I thought - if the transmitter was set to 0%, then the gyro itself was set to 100% (when turning both on) and then I increased the gyro on the transmitter to 100%, it would effectively be 200% gain, if you know what I mean. Clearly, as you can tell, I'm a rotary wing newbie
