Robin Kearney
Hi,I've got a bent up Parkzone Sukhoi looking sorry for itself in its box and was wondering if the electronics might make for a good fit in them S-Pou. Does anybody on here have any experience of the Stevens Aero range and what are suitable power plants?r.
Tony Richardson
Robin I think the Parkzone kit would be fine for the S-Pou if you look Here it describes the gear required I am pretty sure this is the gear used in the Parkzone models, I remember Nigel Hawes building one of these a few months back and am sure he used the gear from a Parkzone model, perhaps someone can remember the issue
Andy Ennis
Robin, I'm currently building the Stevens Aero Liddllerod They are great kits, designed for the gear out of the Parkzone Ultra Micro kit and the Sukhoi gear would be perfect in the S-Pou. In fact, that is exactly what I've used., and also a couple of other guys at our monthly indoor meets have done the same. I'm sure you wouldn't regret buying one of their kits
stephen mcfarland
If I remember there is a build and review in one of the RCM&E mags,If I get a chance I will look it out for you and let you know. The Sukhoi gear is ideal for it.Stephen..................
stephen mcfarland
Found that artical on the S-Pou.If you can take a look at the Fly Elictric column in the March 2011 RCM&E on page 52 you will find all you need to know about the gear and how to fit it. Hope this helps, if you can't get the artical let me know and i can work something out for you. Stephen...............
stephen mcfarland
Also take a look at February 2011 Fly Electric column as there is a complete build of the airframe. Stephen....
Robin Kearney
Gah - internet broken all weekend, had to do house stuff instead! Stephen, thanks for that I'll dig out some back issues and have a read. Have to say the Liddlerod is a pretty little thing as well, maybe my Micro Cub could be persuaded to give up its innards as well! r.
stephen mcfarland
Yeah, they are all great, the problem is once you get started it's hard to stop!!! Micron Radio Control have everything you need and great advice if you are stuck with anything. Stephen

Robin Kearney
That looks lovely Andy. I'm now trying to resist the temptation to canabalise both my dead Sukhoi but also my working Piper and buying a couple of the Steve Aero range! Must finish this funfighter first, then I think one or more of this range will be next. r.

Tom F
I've got a Diddlebug that's ready for covering - I'm using the recommended GWS gearbox. Lovely build, I'm really keen to build another Stevens Aero design.
Andy Ennis
Just finished building my S-Pou, so I thought I'd share it with you. I've already started the 1926 Farman Carte Postale from Stevens Aero - I just love these kits

Andy Ennis
Not flown it yet, hope to fly it at the next indoor meet at Rochdale, next Sunday. Hope to have the Farman completed for then too!
JohnnyB
Hi Andy - did you manage to maiden the S- Pou at the Rochdale meeting?. Would love to hear how it went.John.
Andy Ennis
John, I did indeed, and both the S-Pou and the Liddlerod flew beautifully, and I was very pleased with them and would recommend them to anyone. You do have to remember, however, that they are lightweight balsa structures, and are somewhat less resilient than the foam models. Both picked up minor damage, but also both were easily repaired (a matter of seconds with some cyano) I also maidened the Farman, but that appeared to have massive CoG problems, despite being balanced at the recommended position. As I have no more indoor meets until October, I will not bother with that until later in the year. JohnnyB
Andy, great to hear that the S-Pou flew well Andy, Great to hear that the S-Pou flew well, especially as its quite an unorthodox design!! I'm fiddling with the servo/receiver (PKZ3351in mine) connections to control surfaces!! Not alot of room for fat fingers!! Found the kit a great build so far though - laser cutting so crisp and accurate and brilliantly thought out instructions too. John.
Robin Kearney
Just thought I'd check back and say after a bit of pondering I've ordered myself a couple of kits. I've a LiddleRod and S-Pou en-route. I'll post some pics when I get round to building them. Just out of interest Andy, what weight did yours come out at? I'm worried I build heavy! r. Andy Ennis
To be honest Robin, I haven't weighed them, but I don't think you will be able to build these too heavy. Just follow the destructions, and they should come out bang on! - the kits are really that good!
Robin Kearney
Thought I'd just say that a SPou and a Little Rod arrived today and I spent last night gutting a Sukhoi for its electronics, so I'm close to starting. Just got to pick which one to build first! Oh and finish this fun fighter r.
