Goose10
Hopefully the right place; my micro F86 blew its ESC and also, it seems, the motor. Details:ointer">EDF: 35mm with 9000ointer">kv Brushless ointer">Outrunner Motorointer">ESC: 6A w/BECThe battery is 370mah 2S 25~40C.Can anyone advise where I may get suitable equivalent, or better kit to replace this as it seemed a bit underpowered?Other than what, great fun until the second flight when it smoked. Goose10
Sorry text got corrupted, should be: EDF: 35mm with 9000kv Brushless Outrunner MotorESC: 6A w/BEC
Codename-John
are you sure 9000 kv is correct, especially for an outrunner ive never seen one so high, 4 max are quite good ive got their recommended purple power setup in my Alfa F86 and its been solid for 12 months so far
Codename-John
just been for a look and you are right with 9000, if its fried on the 2nd flight perhaps speak to HK about a replacement motor, fit a bigger esc and use a 3s battery insted, would give enough extra oomph
Goose10
CJdone as advised already but given the HK track record on warranty am looking at my own solution. So back to the original question.ESC and Motor options, and who would do that size? Frank Skilbeck
Was the original running on a 2s battery, if it was then one option would be to go for a 3s battery and look at a 6,000+ kv motor. Also maybe have a word with Robotbirds I see on their website that they do several EDF fan units with high (10,000kv) motors, maybe you could fit a complete new fan unit
Ben B
HK will offer to replace the motor/ESC but you'll have to send it back to Hong Kong Better to get a better motor / ESC to avoid it blowing again... HK things are built to a price...
Ben B
replacement unit should provide some info to go on but I wouldn't bother buying one as the feedback is bad. but robotbirds might sell something similar
Goose10
Thanks all, Robotbirds seem to have what I need; have left enquiry with current setup and will see what they advise. HK serves a purpose with unique airframes (IMO) but the electrics in some of their kit just isnt up to it. Something goes wrong then it seems that chasing is the norm, I just dont have the time or patience for that, some people do. Prefer to spend my spare time out flying rather than on CS chats etc.
Seamus O'Leprosy
I have never had any luck with little EDF's I hope the 70mm set up on the way will be better
Goose10
So update as follows: Replaced the ESC and motor as both were duff with the following: 10A ESCAEO 35mm fan with 1000okv motor All works fine apart from the fact that the ESC is heating up again and seems to be tripping the motor once I open the throttle up; the motor starts to stutter . The only constant in all this is the battery: Turnigy 370mAh 25-40C 2S Any ideas?
Tim Mackey
You really need a wattmeter to establish exactly what the combo is pulling - current wise. It still sounds like its exceeding the rating of the ESC.Alternatively, the timing is wrong on your ESC settings.
