I recently bought my first plane, it is second hand and some of the covering on the tail wings is coming off and I was wondering what is the best glue to stick it back down. Thanks for looking

Hi Rimmerrail, The covering is almost certainly fixed with heat, You stick it down with a low temperature, and then tighten/shrink it with a higher temperature. Dont overdo the high temperature, because the covering will tend to sag in warm weather

Welcome to the forum Rimmerrail......thumbs up

There aren't really any hard & fast rules as to where you should post your "problem"...where you think you will get the best response just about covers it....

Probably a difficult one for you to answer but what sort of covering is it? Heatshrink film can often be re attached as Olly says by "ironing" it down (it has a heat sensitive glue on the back). There are some models around with "self adhesive" coverings so these often won't respond to the iron. Superglue works well & I've found that canopy glues also work well if you hold the lifted edge down with some masking tape whilst it dries (24hrs).

If none of this works then a trip to your LMS should get you some Solartrim (which is self adhesive coloured plastic).....a strip of this over the lifted edge will normally do the job & add a bit of individuality too....wink 2.

Whatever you use remember to degrease the area thoroughly to help the glue stick....meths is a good fluid to use......
