Thomas Barwick
Hey guys ,after going out with my Freewing EF-2000, I noticed that the retract on ground testing for a second flight, was a little bit "notchy" and also when some pressure is applied there is a buzzing,no movement just buzzing. the retract units are the stock servoless. And the buzzing is only in the nose gear. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Tom
Paul Travis
Have you tried end point adjustments?
Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
I'm not really surprised if they buzz if you press against them - wouldn't you expect that? After all the system is working to keep them in position surely? BEB
Thomas Barwick
thought as servoless retracts were on a worm gear that strain should not be an issue and if there is buzzing then strain is being exerted onto the gear so during a takeoff the strain will be more than was being exerted so was worried that it might strip something. cagey
Had similar on my FMS Mustang. Yes, you are right, the up, down lock load is taken by the cam, not the screw jack. Nevertheless the screw jack on one of mine sheared clean as a whistle during taxying after the gentlest floater of a landing too. Since then they've been nothing but trouble. I could write a book about the things. Hang ups, no ups or downs, juddering, buzzing, bits falling off, one going up as the others going down, nasty little pieces of rubbish. Phew, end of rant now. Buy cheap buy twice ! Edited By cagey on 03/12/2012 17:02:08 Edited By Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator on 03/12/2012 17:04:
Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
I've used the E-Flite ones and must say I've had no problems - not cheap though! A set for a model like the FMS Mustang would probably cost 30-40% of the entire model! BEB
