Max Thrust Riot - Upgrades
Thomas Barwick replied to jeffrey cottrell's topic in Build Blogs and Kit Reviews
personally i dont use overlanders as found them to "puff" far quicker than any other battery and also found them to deliver less power than most. I either use Turnigy packs or Radients . Radients arn't the best packs in the world but are far good enough for what you are using them for. -
Peterf's twin 90mm EDF Blackhorse Mig 29 build log
Thomas Barwick replied to PeterF's topic in Electric Ducted Fan
I had one of these on 10s and was a wonderfull bit of kit. Dont bother with the leading edge slats as they really dont work as they should and watch the flaps as they cause the nose to dive dramatically. I ended up not using flaps or leading edge slats at all . -

Spares will be carried by Reds but are awaiting prices for the spares atm. But if you need a spare please just either email or ring them and they can sort it for you. Personally i cant see the point in saving 20 pounds when if the kit has any defects or problems you then have to deal with the Chinese, also if people don't support the local shops then you wont be able to get spares locally. just my two pence worth -
flightline spitfire 1600mm
Thomas Barwick replied to frankie foster's topic in General Electric Flight Chat
My spitfire arrived and has been reviewed, a couple of issues that needed ironing out but the factory will be sorting those on the next batch. Here is a video of it flying https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uw7nCxkqSLQ&t Edited By Thomas Barwick on 19/07/2017 16:14:08 Edited By Thomas Barwick on 19/07/2017 16:14:27 -

flightline spitfire 1600mm
Thomas Barwick replied to frankie foster's topic in General Electric Flight Chat
Reds radio control will have it 29th of july. I work alongside freewing and it has been delayed because of some issues that I and another tester have found during flight testing which have now been rectified . -
they were the weights of the prototypes as asked seagull for the specs as interessted myself, so unless they have changed anything for the production model thats what it will be looking at

The yak 3 is nice but a little small for me at 1600mm, and heavy at 4.5-5.5 kg so the wing loading is rather high.

It has been very quiet, but I know that black horse have released 5or 6 new kits and that vq have brought a new range of kits that look very nice -

Hello , I recently have brought a mc72 float plane and have been flying it off the grass for a while but would really like to try it off water where it belongs, I live in the leicester area and wasn't sure of where you can fly and if there are any additional rules surrounding flying off water. Thanks , Tom

70mm Electric ducted fan
Thomas Barwick replied to Stephen Jones's topic in General Electric Flight Chat
The dr mad thrust fans are very good units, but the thrust numbers are taken outside of any airframe so the thrust will be higher. I have always experienced at least a 20% loss in thrust when installed in the airframe, so something to be aware of. -
ESC anyone use them
Thomas Barwick replied to john stones 1 - Moderator's topic in Electric Flight for Beginners
Andy . Pretty similar but the k series is the newest run of the esc . But you are right they are both Hobbywing rebrands. Tom -
ESC anyone use them
Thomas Barwick replied to john stones 1 - Moderator's topic in Electric Flight for Beginners
The ESC that you have linked John is a hobbywing that has been rebranded. I have used them faultlessly in all of my kits. And I have personally never had one that has never gone wrong (touching wood ). Erflog What I believe makes one esc better than another is purely down the the settings available . for example timings, some are in degrees which is more accurate and then some are just high medium and low. Also the more expensive esc have generally alot lower internal resistance than the cheaper ones. But the difference is on;y really noticable on higher power applications. or so I believe (just my pence worth Tom -
I have had this model and never had an issue with the nose dropping. the cg in the book is wrong and i used 165mm not the 130mm in the book and still flies just as stable but the elevator has alot more authority at lower speeds and the rolls are more axial. Hope this helps Tom

brc hobbies do a range of lander fans which maybe heavy but are very reliable had a 68mm one running on 6s for over 3 years and never has signed any sign of wearing out in anyway. they maybe 10 blade but 12 blades are less efficient and 10 is a good comprimise Edited By Thomas Barwick on 09/05/2014 02:22:55

I too recommend war thunder and il2 1946 , but also world of warplanes. more arcade but better if you have no joystick.

There is a large central hatch where everything goes the battery slides into the front of the nose where the glazing is .

Hi guys, the black horse model is excatly the same kit as the old graupner. there is a forum on rc groups with a build. i have one and is a lovely kit, currently doing a cockpit mod as the pilots were way out and due to change to undercarriage as its only single strut in the kit. is also a shame about the green as its a little bit garish.
