ericrw
Today, on connecting my transmitter to my Beaver model my Turnigy Plush 60 amp ESC is making an intermittent beeping sound and the motor is having a jerky movement. The elev, rud, ail all responded when I switched on but no joy from the throttle. It worked fine the last time I flew but today a problem. Is the ESC faulty or do they go to sleep ?? Bob Cotsford
Dry jointt between motor and esc? That seems quite a common problem
ericrw
Sorry ! I've just realised that I had problems previously with this ESC and was able to resolve the problem through the Forum.
Pete B
Try some 'down' trim on the throttle, Eric. IIRC, I've had similar in the dim and distant past and I can't remember if that fixed a similar problem..... Next option would be to 'teach' the ESC the throttle position and see if that helps. If not, I'll have a harder think - I'm rushing past the Pc at the mo.... Pete
ericrw
The previous Forum help, again proved to be the answer. As to why it happened again ( going to sleep). I don't know ! Thanks again to the forumites !!
Pete B
I'm none the wiser, Eric - how did you wake it up? Do you have a link to the previous thread? Pete
Steve Hargreaves - Moderator
The trick is to avoid giving them any Horlicks before putting them away Eric......then they stay wide awake until you need them again.... But from the symptoms you describe I think I'd line up behind the learned Mr Cotsford.....a dodgy joint between ESC & motor would be my guess.....a badly soldered connector is often the culprit!! Pete B
I think I've found the thread, Eric. Was it the trim? Useful for other forumites to remember Pete
ericrw
Pete, yes I had had this problem before but in a "senior" moment I forgot that I had. It was the trim. I had to put the trim to it's lowest level and then connect to the battery. How is the Grandson keeping ?
Pete B
Very well, thanks, Eric - learning lots of bad habits from his elder brother. I'll be seeing them next week Pete
