Jerry Zito
Eric, I can't remember. Do you have a KK2 board?
Eric Hartley
Hi I've had a KK2 board in the past but the one I'm having problems with is the APM2.6. An existing quad. has an APM2.6 installed and works fine - this one must be jinxed!
Jerry Zito
I'm sorry Eric. I do'n know anything about your board. But there are three things that I am pretty sure are true for any multirotor. 1. The board has to be oriented facing forward. 2. The motors have to be connected to the proper corresponding port 3. Making sure that the receiver controls correspond to the ports on the board. Other than that, I'm kinda at a loss myself.
Eric Hartley
Hi Problem now resolved. After some study of the Arducopter manual I have altered some parameters which seem to have worked. Thanks for all your responses which will no doubt be helpful in the future.
C Norton
Hi Eric, glad you've got it sorted but please tell us what you did, it might be helpful to someone else having similar problems in the future. Chris
Eric Hartley
Hi I've looked at numerous web sites and forums to try and sort the various problems encountered with the APM 2.6 and list below a couple of sites I found informative - copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/prearm_safety_check/ **LINK**
Jerry Zito
I may have asked this before but my quad with KK2 board, seems to want to take off uneven. Most quads I have, all four corners lift at about the same time. This bigger quad's right side motors lift first as if it's going to flip over, but with a little more throttle, it evens out. Is there some adjustment I can do?
Tony Read 2
Do the motors all spool up together at the same time and speed? If they do it might be a prop problem? Try swapping with the corresponding other prop and see what happens.
Jerry Zito
Yes the props do spool at the same time. When I add throttle they all seem to be responding together. It happens only when the quad is just leaving the ground. after that, it is very stable. Thanks Tony, I will try a prop swap. Hey that rhymes! Tony Read 2
Can't hurt to try. I had a damaged prop that I hadn't spotted and the quad did all sorts of strange things, until I touched it and it fell in half! I now check my props every flight! Jerry Zito
Well Tony, I checked the props and they seem ok. I made sure to tighten the nut on the prop adapter, but it was pretty tight. Flew my quad and it does the same thing. Do you thing there may be a setting adjustment on the KK2 board. I'm just grasping at straws here. Greg Dex
Hi Jerry. I have had a few KK boards and the KK2 board does tend to spool up faster on one side initially until you give more throttle. Which KK board is it? If it is really bad it could be related to ESC timings? If using single ESC's then make sure they are all on the same timings and then calibrate them. if this fails try installing a different firmware on the KK boards. ....Oh the high& lows of getting flight controllers to work..... Tony Read
What firmware are the ESC's using? Are they optimised for a quad? You could try uploading the 'SimonK' firmware, which can be very easy or a pain in the neck depending upon the type of ESC/chip. If it flies fine I would tend to leave as is and just give it some beans to get into the air.
Jerry Zito
Thanks Tony. It's kinda weird. I went out to fly today with the quad, and it lifted off perfectly. I ran an acc calibration which may have something to do with it, but I ran it every time before. Not sure, but I'll take it.
