Dave Hopkin
There is Mick Reeves Metalcoat (self adhesive Ali "foil" looks like a brilliant way of creating the look of an all Ali Aircraft, but how much if any, does the ali covering attenuate the signal at the RX? Cuban8
Funnily enough I was looking at mate's model that used Metalcoat around the cowl and cockpit yesterday. No problem with the radio as the RX (2.4) was well clear in the rear of the airframe. For a fuz completely covered in the material, I should think it would be wise to treat it as you would a carbon fuz and use a RX with extended external aerials. Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
Dave there was a thread on this a few months back. David Davis did some experiments - I recollect that the answer was aluminium type foil/film coverings made virtually no difference at all. I'm sure that if you search on aluminium you'll find the thread. BEB
Biggles' Elder Brother - Moderator
The thread is here. It was with silver solarfilm - not the same I agree, but a similar test to what David did would answer your question definitively. Andy Green
There was a spray product reviewed in the Mag a couple on months ago, either by Alex W or Pete L. I'll look for it when I get home. Andy
Martin Harris - Moderator
The very effective natural aluminium covering from HK and, I assume, GC definitely shielded the signal to a friend's Spektrum/Orange receiver - so much so that he recovered the fuselage with "normal" film.
