Ultymate
Yes the DLE 55 is too much engine for that airframe
Iain Jeffrey
Yes also, fully agree with Ultymate, I have the same Seagull model powered by an evolution 40cc, loads of power from this size engine, the airframe is quite light for it's size! Jon H
55cc will tear it apart. The specs call for a 180 4 stroke which is only 30cc. A chap at my club has a 90inch sbach with a dle55 in it and the thing is ballistic.
Craig Thomas
Thanks guys. Well how about a dle35. Would that be more suitable? They do a rear exhaust version, would that be ok? This will be my first ever petrol/gas model so am a little bit green? No one at my club has this plane so can't really advice.
Iain Jeffrey
A DLE 35cc sounds much more sensible, more managable power for the airframe. DLE's are normally quite light in weight anyway which will help with performance. The Evolution 40cc I use has side exhaust with wrap-around pitts type silencer. If I remember correctly, a rear exhaust may point straight at the engine mounting box and I don't think that there is much room for a can type silencer, which you would need for this configuration. nasa_steve
I used to fly mine on a Zenoah zg26 so I think 55cc is a bit if overkill personally
